"Darlin', a rose still has thorns." He smirked just a little, knowin' full well that Jim could and often did get frustrated with his comparisons. Not that he'd stop the teasing. Part of the fun was the banter. And well, now the teasing meant more cause the flirtations could stand for what they really were. "Usually I'm a pretty patient man, but I'm findin' that pretty hard right now." And the left off words of 'cause it's you' stayed hanging in the air.
And that was why it was easier for him to brush aside the more serious and darker thoughts that threatened to drag down his mood. Right now, there was no room for that sort of nonsense.
His gaze softened at the way Jim pressed a kiss to his fingers and a small smile pulled at the corners of his lips. It made him want to move closer and push Jim up against the wall to kiss him senseless. He started to say something, but instead he was pulled through the door and toward the desk. As Jim said something to the clerk, he leaned in and slipped one hand softly over the small of Jim's back before curling his fingers around his hip.
Where he didn't lean against Jim's back, he definitely dared to stand close. "Want me to pay or you got this?" Either didn't matter. He knew he'd end up returning the favor in some way in the future.
