[Open - Watergun Mingle Post]
who: Anyone!
(This is a mingle post, no obligation to participate with Ed just because it's his post)
what: Watergun Fights
when: During the week of the Festival/Fireworks (August 1st-7th, August 14th.)
where: Along the all-ages beaches of the river
warnings: Some characters may be under amnesia influence on August 14th.
Anyone in the communal building was free to notice the small group of people leaving with large tubs of plastic guns. Floor six especially was free to notice the prep of water guns packed up for transport to the beach. There had been little in the way of warning, but anyone that Ed might invite is welcome to assume they got a message telling them to find him on one of the beaches.
Once the buckets were moved down on the first they were left there with a sign for just anyone to use throughout the week of the festival - and would pop up again during the day of the 14th, before the fireworks. All guns will be at about the same power, so no one's running around with way more force than anyone else! Everyone will have to handle refills the same, unless they have magical water abilities, and chances are the guns are going to be filled with river water at some point or another, if not the whole time.
Feel free to specify a time or date your character is available or mention that they're available whenever. List open or closed Top-Levels below, tag around, make new CR or stick to established friends! If your character needs a little incentive to join in, feel free to assume they were hit in the cross-fire.
Note: I forgot to put in Ed's top level, he's a CRAU so expect some differences (taller, longer hair, older looking etc.)
Everyone is free to join in if you're interested!

Edward Elric | OTA (will match style) | Amnesia For iii. & iv. (August 14th)
Ed can be found on any day during the festival setting up. Either moving the bucket of guns down to the beach or pulling them out of hiding once he'd finished cleaning up for the day. It was a nice way to cool off, he couldn't exactly swim and he figured he'd earned it with all the work he was putting in at the beach.
If he caught anyone watching he'd pull a gun from the bucket and offer it to them with a grin. "You in?" An explanation would be offered to anyone that didn't know the game.
ii.
As the day progressed and the fights continued anyone could happen upon the bucket of remaining guns - fully loaded if it was late enough - with a sign that invited anyone reading to join in and get acquainted with the game. There were no teams, everyone was their own, doing their best to spray the most people.
Of course if someone's not paying attention they may just end up caught in the cross fire. Ed might offer a grin akin to a challenge with a shouted apology to any stranger that gets hit, someone he knew might get their own unique reaction depending on how he'd think they'll take it.
iii.
This is the last day, after tonight the guns go back wherever they came from. By the 14th the festival was over and clean up had been long done, but the fireworks would be displayed tonight as if this was the true big finale of the event. Considering there wasn't much Ed could enjoy on the beach aside from the food, he made one last big push for this. The more people that joined in the better, he was ready for all out war, and he was ready to battle until the sun went down and the display started.
iv.
After the fireworks are over he'll come back to the guns, pack up whatever is left behind and bring it back to Floor Six to hide out until another day. Feel free to find him collecting displaced guns from the beach or dumping out water and piling the empty toys into a bucket. He also won't say no to an offer of help, especially from present CR or floormates.

mix/match/wildcard. As usual feel free to hit me up at
Yuffie Kisaragi - Water Gun Fight ON! - OPEN
What was a girl to do? The answer was, 'follow the group of people ready to have a water-gun fight.'
Yuffie helped fill the guns, grabbing at least six small ones that she stashed all over her small frame in clever hiding places. She was planning to used her ninja skills to silently sneak up and pelt all those in her path. No one was safe.
A maniac laugh could be heard seconds prior to a stream of water.
"Prepare yourself!"
Maybe she wasn't as stealthy as she meant to be.
[ooc: Feel free to run into her while she's helping them get ready with water-guns, or be her target, or hit her while she's aiming at someone else, or whatever!]
i. pre-water gun fight
When he sees Ed as he enters, he remembers their... awkward conversation over the phone. He didn't get the most friendly vibes from Ed, honestly, but it looks like Ed is setting up for a social event. Maybe he got the wrong impression about him? Magnus figures it's worth another shot to strike up conversation with this guy and maybe, hopefully, get a more pleasant response. ]
Hey, Edward! How's it going?
[ It's also worth noting that Magnus has seen Ed's automail around communal housing before. As much as he doesn't want to make it weird, he does glance down at his arm in interest, but quickly pulls his gaze away. He's not that tactless. ]
no subject
Admittedly it wasn't the best first impression, but Ed did not want Al trying to bring every stray animal he found onto the floor and public broadcasts were a quick and easy way to bring the topic to light.
He offers a grin in greeting, wiping a gloved hand across his forehead before straightening up from the bucket of plastic guns.]
Come to check out the festival? It's a lot of work if they drag you into cleaning.
[That's said mostly as a tease, Ed doesn't mind the work himself but he knows not everyone agrees. It's when his gaze focuses on Magnus that he notices he's glancing over his arm. Something Ed definitely did not want discussed in public.
Since Magnus doesn't say anything - at least right away - he doesn't bring it up either, but his expression becomes slightly more guarded, wary. His tone is cool when he speaks again, not unfriendly, but a subtle hint that he might pick up on not to ask about the arm here.]
We're setting up for some water gun fights, if you might be interested. They have those where you're from?
no subject
I am interested! I also have no idea what those are. But I am into organized fighting sports, so I'll give it my best shot!
no subject
When the conversation stays where he's comfortable - water guns - Edward grins again, tossing one of the loaded guns to Magnus.]
Check it out. I'm still filling them, but you'll want to be familiar with your weapon before we get started, right?
no subject
[ He catches the gun, and examines it, full of interest. Even though he doesn't really know what he's looking at. His universe didn't even have guns, let alone guns of the water variety. ]
Which end is the "up" end?
no subject
Watch your finger, if you keep it on the trigger you might pull it by accident.
[Which would kill people with a normal gun... Ed motions to the plug on the back of his own, the style was the same on all of them to make the competition as uniform as possible.]
You pull this out when it's empty, water gets poured into the hole there. I filled these up already but for reloads we're probably going to have to hit the shore.
[Ed made sure to take his finger off the trigger before lowering the gun to his side, knowing he was setting an example for someone new. At least his world had guns, and he'd been in the military. It was enough to fake it for a water gun fight, but he wasn't about to pretend to be an expert.]
I take it you're not familiar with guns at all? They're not my most familiar weapon, but for a little fun you don't need to know much about the real thing.
no subject
The real thing? So water guns are like, based on regular guns. Guns 2: The Sequel: This Time It's Water.
[ He plays around with the gun a bit longer, then decides he's learned about all there is to learn about shooting water at things. ]
Okay, I think I've got it. You need help loading the rest?
no subject
Uh... The real thing, yeah. They're designed to kill people.
[This was said softly, as if he's slowly realizing how bizarre it might seem to model a harmless toy after a tool for murder.]
You definitely don't want to confuse the two, which is why these are ... usually bright colors.
[At the offer he glances down at the bucket again before shrugging. He grabbed a gun to demonstrate both methods as he spoke.]
Sure, you can put the whole gun under water or just pour it straight into the hole- I find the first way works best.
no subject
I think I prefer the one with bright colors.
[He begins dunking some of the guns into the water. Yay, he's being helpful! Now that he's got the hang of the task, he starts up some small talk.]
So, hey, I think you and I are roommates?
no subject
[Ed's already been shot, he'd like to not die that way again.]
Yeah, I've seen you around. Although.... it can be hard to tell sometimes, we get a lot of random visitors that like to make themselves comfortable.
[A grin at that. For a floor full of PTSD, the security on Floor Six is non-existent.]
It might take you awhile to figure out who actually lives with us, we have a few regulars.
Keith - OTA
Though, he wasn't exactly a great shot, either, but that didn't stop him from enjoying the competition.
no subject
Hopefully I get around to meeting everyone soon, for real. Do you think they'll be around today?
no subject
[Ed offers another grin, honestly this is the first real party he's gotten to enjoy in this place and it shows.]
Garrus doesn't really do water, so I don't blame him for avoiding the beach. Everyone else should be here, Yuffie, Al and I came together. We... Do a lot as a group, I think it'll be fairly easy to work out who we are from that alone.
I'll try to introduce you to anyone that doesn't actually live there when they're around, just don't be surprised if you find a girl sleeping on our couch or a random kid eating out of our fridge.
no subject
Sleeping on a random couch and eating out of a stranger's fridge? I can relate. They're already cool in my book.
I think I talked to Yuffie over the—thing? [He holds up his phone, referencing the network.] She told me not to get a dog. Kinda forcefully. ... But don't worry, I'm not gonna spring a dog on you guys.
no subject
Lola's friendly, I'm sure you'll like her. Nico ... can be a little weird, but he's a good kid once you get used to him.
[Ed is always surprised when people are not put off by Nico because something similar is familiar from their own world, but he has started realizing more and more people seem less reactionary to him. Which is a good sign in Ed's book, he hates having to stand between friends who don't get along for any reason.]
Yuffie..?
[Have a confused look at that, Yuffie doesn't do much of anything forcefully unless it involves fun. Even Ed hadn't told him not to get one, and Ed was the one that openly scowled at the thought of animals filling their limited space.]
She must.... really not like dogs, that's kind of unusual for her.
[Ed doesn't bother to educate him on the matter of the network, mostly because he doesn't think to. People used all sorts of different words for it, device, phone, communicator. It was annoying enough for him, he was sure it was a lot for someone as new as Magnus still. He pauses, looking serious once more before continuing as if this was very top secret news.]
I'll let you in on a little secret I learned this week. You have to promise not to tell my brother, deal?
no subject
Totally. Pinky promise. You can count on me!
[When he says this, he puffs his chest and motions a cross over his heart, a testament to his loyalty.]
... Also I don't know your brother so it would be hard for me to tell anyway.
no subject
Most people that know us here say that we look a lot alike, I'm sure you'll figure it out. We're on the other side of the floor, but we have the two beds on the end.
[And their stuff is all over the desks. Honestly, Ed doesn't think they look that much alike, but he's heard it so many times now he figures Magnus might agree.]
There are these animals here, they call them Pokemon. You can get one of practically any size, and they store in these balls...
[Give him a minute to pull the ball out to demonstrate. Still all sorts of levels of serious business.]
Basically, if you find one that's a dog you could have a dog without the dog bothering anyone on the floor. Just don't tell my brother, I don't want to live with an army of weird cats.
[Ed's not sure Al would stay limited to cats considering this world had the option of so much more, but he's going to remain optimistic for the moment.]
no subject
[He processes the new information he gets from Ed, then gasps.]
Some of the Pokemon are dogs!? And I can have one in a ball of holding!?
[He realizes his volume level and calms himself down.]
I am going to get one. I need to. ... And I'll keep this information to myself, of course.
no subject
Of course.
Look, don't just go into this without some research. You could wind up with a six foot tall fire breathing dog if you're not careful, you want to know that before you get attached.
[Why are Pokemon so weird?]
I can try to help if you want, but I'm not exactly an expert. Mine just started following me one day and the thing's been around ever since.
[No need to go into details, Magnus doesn't need to know about the why.]
no subject
[Magnus laughs. Who doesn't want a six foot tall fire breathing dog?!
He's touched by Ed's story.]
That sounds like true friendship. I hope I can get a Pokemon to follow me around like that. What's yours like?
no subject
Oh- um.
[A hand motions to the 20 foot water snake lounging nearby, watching them the whole time from atop a sleek flat rock.]
Mostly just keeps to itself and lives out here by the river. It doesn't go far if I come this way, though...
no subject
It's amazing.
[He gives it another moment, then turns back to Ed.]
Can't believe I didn't see it on my way out here, it's huge. You're a lucky guy!
no subject
[A shrug.]
I guess I don't think much about it. I haven't decided if I'm going to bother keeping it in the ball... I kind of like the idea it can stay out here and do as it pleases.
[He's not so sure he's lucky, but just how much he wants to dump on the new guy was still a consideration he'd need to make. Still, he grins to take the seriousness from the tone as he explains almost uncertainly, never really sure if the idea that it watches him for future problems is entirely a joke or not.]
It showed up to split up a fight between me and a friend. Then it never went away. I still think it just expects to have to split up fights a lot, so might as well keep me on the radar.
no subject
[He shows genuine interest in the story. Ed was smart to lighten the tone, because whatever fight this was seems like no big deal to Magnus. So, he doesn't think to push it.]
That's some top-tier wisdom that thing has.
... Actually, what is it called?
no subject
Milotic. Apparently breaking up fights is what they're really good at.
[Ed will let Magnus think that, it was a lot nicer thought than the truth of the situation. If this thing was so special it wouldn't come out of the river to break up just any old fight, but no one else needed to know that. He hadn't even told Professor Sycamore the full details and that guy was the Pokemon Expert around here.]
no subject
[He tops off what seems to be the last water gun, then lifts it into Ed's view.]
Speaking of fights, won't it be time to get this one started soon?
no subject
[Or someone he can interest anyway. Ed's grin looks far less friendly at that idea.]
Thanks for the help setting up.
