a. I held it in but now it seems you've set it running free
the quarantine - aug 5th
[Drew probably should've called in sick this close to the full moon, especially now that he was here, without a pack. It meant that things were already going to be difficult for him this particular full moon but add entirely new environments and locations and both he and the wolf were unsettled. The wolf, because it was pining for something that was lost to it for now; a severed bond that it desperately wanted back. The man, because he didn't know where he stood in this new world. He'd yet to carve those deep bonds with people that he needed to keep himself level in these trying times.
He'd made some wise decisions at least, in that he still had some of his stipend and access to more of what he needed to make it through the transformations. But a shift at work was something he usually used to clear his head in the run up to the peak of the lunar cycle; here though, it just reminded him of what he'd left behind and everything served its purpose in cementing that fact. Sure there were people in the bar now, but they weren't shifters, they weren't all werewolves, they weren't what he was used to.
It didn't do well to dwell on these kinds of thoughts and Drew should've known that, hell Drew usually did know that. But people kept drifting to the forefront of his mind, especially with the tumultuous way in which he'd left things. One particular face drifted into his mind's eye as he was restocking a shelf and a sound like a shot rung out in the bar as Drew's hand collapsed around the bottle he was holding, the glass piercing through his skin as Drew let out a sound like a muffled howl, eyes burning a supernatural blue as he thought of him while whiskey and blood dripped to the floor.]
b. The saints can't help me now, the ropes have been unbound
communal housing/the perimeter/around the city - aug. 7th-9th
[Drew had gone all day toying with the idea that tonight he wouldn't shift, that he'd spend the entire full moon as a man... it was a bit of a desperate thought brought on by the fact that he didn't like the idea of running alone tonight, unbound as he was. He'd usually manage to harness an amount of zen just from being with his pack-mates on the day of the full moon and also the time leading up to it. Already though his nerves were frayed. It wouldn't be his very first full moon alone, just the first in a while. He prepared efficiently though, smoking to what felt like his own capacity.
At the moon's apex, a howl can be heard that practically splits the skies, just beyond the communal housing area as Drew's body tears itself apart with the forced transformation. His spin splitting and reforming with fur, bones cracking and realigning themselves into new positions, internal organs shifting to accommodate a quadrupedal form- yet all hidden behind the blanket of drugs, Drew safe from the truly awful effects on his own little cloud of peace.
From then on, a wolf that stands at five feet tall can be seen in various parts of the city. Beyond the perimeter, fighting monster against monster with those beyond the city. At the river, taking a cool refreshing drink of the water. Or even looking decidedly humane, strolling along the shopping district and gazing in the windows.
If approached, the wolf is clearly tame and even friendly... maybe its even down for a game of catch or just some companionship.]
c. You are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to howl
sunset diner- aug 10th
[On the days after the full moon Drew can be found in pretty much any coffee shop or diner there is around the city, looking like a man nursing the world's worst hangover. Especially in the mid-afternoons, he'll be seen with plates of food so high it would be impossible that any man could manage to eat it. Or coffee by what seems like the bucketful. He's slowly coming back to himself now, albeit tender from the roller-coaster time he'd been having of experiencing a full moon while being on a moon.
If prompted, he'll talk about the experience, if recognised, he'll be happier than usual to engage in a conversation. So far away from his pack, now's the time that he'd need other people- to remind him that while a werewolf, he's still decidedly human and not a creature that ran purely on animal drives and instincts.]
