The lucid dream goggles aren't really a new idea, either. Made a pair back home, didn't bring them with me, so I'm making 'em again, here.

Since he's going to be using them to access his powers - powers which he has no intention of telling the Doctor or anyone else about - he might as well just pretend they are simpler than they are. ]
