After years of hiding and being afraid of the Clave's punishments, Alec had never really thought he'd have this kind of freedom. He'd doubted he'd ever be worthy of the honors that normal Shadowhunters were given and marriage had seemed impossible. The Clave wouldn't acknowledge their vows, but to the two of them they were sacred. Even if they had spoken the words with their memories in pieces, their hearts had known that they belonged together.
There were probably other colors Magnus would want them both to wear and on another night Alec would let his husband dress him however he wished. But for now, he wanted to enjoy the colors that were tradition that had always seemed impossible for him. "It makes it easier for me if I do. Eventually you're going to get tired of how I stumble over saying how beautiful you are." He doubted that would really happen, but Alec would tease his husband over it since they both knew his compliments were usually simpler than the ones Magnus could think up.
When words eluded him, Magnus never seemed to mind when Alec uses actions to express himself. Looking down at his husband, his expression reflected the awe he still felt over their marriage, over being the one that Magnus had chosen to spend a lifetime with. As Magnus slowed so they could focus on the kiss, he pulled Magnus closer, not caring that they were probably in the way. For a few seconds all he noticed was the taste of the kiss they shared, the warmth of Magnus pressed against him, making a pleased sound when he realized that the change in height made it easier to kiss his husband.
Breath hitching when he felt the points of Magnus' teeth, he stopped himself before he leaned in for another kiss. "I like the new boots." Flushing when he realized that wasn't the right response for what Magnus suggested, he brushed his fingers over the love knot he'd painted on Magnus' chest. "I wasn't sure if you'd want to show me off like that."
