Can they, [Natsume murmurs, a little faint;] I didn't know. [He goes up from glancing up at this person's face, to staring out far and across in the same way. Or, nearly the same way. Natsume is squinting a bit.]
I have the fan. [There's levity in his voice, but it's crisp and showy. Perfectly serviceable, nice and polite, but ultimately tepid. He even flaps the fan a bit for good measure.] I just thought I'd watch it for a bit. I didn't realize how big it would be, so that's my mistake. [He takes a breath. His eyes lower from the crowd to some middle distance, but there's something softer in the muscles of his mouth.] Thanks. If it's "this once", I won't waste it. Maybe another time. [Which means he doesn't intend to ever ask, but he appreciates the gesture.]
