[From a distance, Regene probably looks like quite a party pooper during the musical performances: leaned with one shoulderblade against the wall of a nearby business and his arms crossed over his chest, no part of him bobbing or jiggling to the beat, just taking it all in with an air that seems oddly impassive for someone watching so closely.
The truth, beneath all those layers of outward cool, is that he's a bit overwhelmed. Everything about his life here aligns so much more closely with his original purpose that it's nearly electrifying to have the chance, but he's also too accustomed to lurking in the shadows, his former life being all hidden plots and secret actions among a select few. He'll obviously need a period of adjustment before he can blend in any effective way.
At some point during Otabek's set, Regene's head actually starts to bob to the beat - that part of the music is too infectious not to move along, the way the low end seems to set his very bones vibrating. He pushes off from the wall to seek out someone else who's observing rather than reveling and points out, his tone light and curious (as it can be while still loud enough to be heard) rather than critical:]
This one isn't as much of a performer, is he? He doesn't seem at all concerned with the audience's reaction.

[While Regene hasn't had much of a chance to upgrade his wardrobe for something as specific as a carnivale, his Innovator clothes are at least light and cool in the sun and, in keeping with anything designed by Ribbons Almark, at least somewhat flamboyant in design. Once he's dressed up with some brightly coloured beads and a plastic tiara someone insisted on gifting to him when they saw the shade of his hair, he fits in quite well, even if his energy still isn't as high as those around him.
The fact that his clothing is airy and white doesn't exactly lend itself well to all the water, though, and he finally lets out a frustrated groan when someone douses him well and truly enough to leave his shirt transparent and plastered to his skin. Shaking off the ruffles at his wrists, he looks down at his chest and then back up and around, barely able to make out faces through all the droplets on his glasses. (Thank goodness those have no real, practical use.)]
At this point, I may as well just take it off and hope we're not prone to sunburn... [He's mostly muttering to himself, but he could be looking right at someone since he hasn't yet seen to his glasses.]
