introductory mingle: PRIJATA
what: Introductory Log and Prijata Celebration
when: June 1st - June 8th
where: Anywhere around the city.
warnings: please put any necessary warnings in the subject lines

In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire week. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.
i. gift fountain
While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the week, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the week.
Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. ETA: If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.
This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming posts on the OOC community and the TDM.
ii. speed-friending
This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!
For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!
iii. club exhibition
Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a week-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.
And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.
iv. unveiling the new friendr
Prijata this year is marked by something special - the unveiling of a code rebuild of the ubiquitous Friendr app! Anyone with the app installed already will receive a prompt to update the app, and if anyone hasn't yet downloaded it, they'll receive a quick, easily-dismissed pop-up ad on their device when they next access the network, asking if they want to. No one is obligated, and the ad is a one-time instance, intended to make sure any character who hasn't heard of the app gets a chance.
The Friendr app is a swipe-left-or-right style friend matching and/or dating app that is very common in Riverview, both for PCs and NPCs, and it has received an upgrade with a new appearance, a new interests line for more accurate matching, and a wide variety of themes so that the colors can be customized!
Please see the updated appearance below, with the 'default' color scheme. Players are free to change the colors or appearance of the code but please do not remove the credit line showing where the base code came from, out of respect for the code creator.

For this prompt, you can either post your character's new, fancy Friendr app profile in the comments, or provide a link to their updated code in an entry on their journal. Whatever floats your boat!
v. roommates or wildcard
Feel free to use this prompt to set up headers for a communal floor, or threads open to roommates for the purpose of getting to know each other. Or if you have an idea for a prompt that isn't in this list, set during Prijata, feel free to write it up!

"Oddly yet luckily," Jim added, smiling at Bones. Because Jim would be an idiot not to thoroughly enjoy the way Bones spoiled him— and he certainly didn't think it was too much. Not by a long shot.
"Nothing special," he shrugged as he led the way towards the spot he'd pointed out, shrugging off his backpack once they reached it. "Just a few sandwiches, some fruit and cookies. Easy stuff to carry and eat. Didn't go too overboard." He took the blanket from inside the bag first, stretching it out across the grass, gesturing towards it. "Make yourself comfortable."
no subject
Watching the other set up the picnic, he felt something warm build up in his chest. Jim could be oddly romantic in ways. Sweet and thoughtful and honestly, what he called not going overboard was likely more than Jim really ever did for anyone else. And well, that was damn attractive.
Which was why he moved over to Jim instead of sittin' and wrapped his arms about the other man's shoulders from behind. Tucking his head into the crook of Jim's neck, he pressed soft kisses to his neck. Nothing intensely sensual, but sweet and soft while pulling him close. "You never cease to amaze me, ya know that?"
no subject
The hug was a little sudden but not unwelcome, and he sniled and relaxed against Bones, turning his head enough to glance at him over his shoulder. "It's just a picnic blanket, Bones," he pointed out with a trace of amusement to his tone. Still, he turned around in Bones's arms, so that he was facing him. "Right back at you, doc."
no subject
Still, that aside, he loved this. Loved the idea that Jim put effort into something on his own and it centered on him. Not that Jim wasn't thoughtful. When he put his mind to it, Jim was amazing and got the required amount done and more. It lie more in the fact that the doctor never really had anyone go this far for him.
When Jim turned around in his arms, he lowered his arms to lightly wrap about his waist before leaning in closer to touch their foreheads softly. "It's not just that to me. I know... bein' a real sap." Lifting one hand, he slipped his fingertips over Jim's jaw and smirked a little. "You're worth it." Everything really. Not that he wanted to stand there and sappily lay it out for him. Jim likely wouldn't want him to.
no subject
In some ways, Jim had aimed for that himself, over the past few years. Sometimes it was hard to forget. To overlook some details, or not realize that some people might need that extra bit of attention. He didn't think of himself as a bad friend by any means, but he knew he could've been a better one, at times. He just hoped he could make up for any potential failings over the years now that they were together.
"Just the perfect amount of sap, if you ask me," Jim smiled warmly, cheeks flushing just a hint as he caught Bones's hand, kissing the palm. "So are you, Leonard."
no subject
Lifting one hand from the other man's waist, he lifted it to gently cup the side of his face. The pad of his thumb rolled over Jim's cheek bone before he leaned in till their lips nearly touched. "Say stuff like that and you might just melt me." His voice dropped lower, richer, as he tipped his head and kissed the corner of his lips. Because Jim did melt him when he said things like that or did things like this.
For now, he didn't want to move back. The doctor wanted this closeness. The bone deep warmth of Jim Kirk. And it wasn't the first time he realized that every year he spent with Jim, even before this right there, was the best of his life. "Think you're gonna have'ta pull away... Too easy to just stay like this." Maybe not in this exact position, but he wanted to touch Jim and kiss him... and the man put too much effort into plannin' all this.
no subject
Smiling softly at first, his lips quirked at the corner in mild amusement. He placed Bones's hand on his chest, settling his hands briefly on the doctor's waist. "Well, can't have that, now." He stole a few more soft kisses, just barely touching the corner of Bones's lips, then finally pulled away so they could both get settled on the blanket.
"Come on. Sit down," he tugged on Bones's arm as he kneeled on the ground, moving onto a sitting position.
no subject
And yet he was.
Hazel eyes flicked up to Jim's as he watched the flicker of everything bright and beautiful about him through a smile or how soft his lips felt with each tiny playful kiss. Shit, he couldn't be more in love with this man if he wanted to be. For a moment all he could do was stand there, the smallest of lines furrowing in his brow as he watched the blonde settle on the blanket.
"Do you ever resent me for putting your life before everything else?" It came out quiet, a low question as his hands dropped to his sides, mind caught in that moment he'd had to 'call a time of death' on Jim. And he refused to. Refused to let him die no matter what horrible thing he had to do or try. He let other people die. Called times of death and forced himself to accept somethings he couldn't fix. Couldn't do.
But everything was different when it came to Jim. And it never really occurred to him what Jim thought about that. Because even if Jim asked him to, he likely wouldn't break his oath to save anyone else like that. Strangely enough, that realization was sobering. So as he lowered down onto the blanket next to Jim, he couldn't help wondering, had it ever bothered him?
no subject
He was, though. Of course he was. Now that he thought about it, he knew very well that Bones did plenty more for him than he did anyone else. Not just things he was terrified of, but things he had sworn not to do. Jim had never once questioned it; rarely ever thought it even bothered Bones at all, all the times he was put in that position because of him.
"No," he said honestly, hand moving to catch Bones's own. He tugged again, smiling up at the doctor. "At least someone does."
Considering Jim put practically everything else that was worth anything at all in his life before himself or his own safety all the time, it was a good thing that at least someone was keeping an eye out for him. Still, it begged the question.
"Have you ever resented me? For putting you in that position?"
no subject
Settling on the blanket beside Jim, he stretched his legs out a bit and frowned at that question. "Resent wouldn't be the word." The answer was honest, actually leaning on curious. "I'd go with frantic." He turned his head to smile just slightly at his best friend and well... boyfriend. They both knew he didn't handle that kind of emotion well when it came to Jim.
Breathing in slowly, he leaned over and let his head drop on his shoulder. "Just never really thought about it from your point of view before. It's not a question of am I willing to do whatever it takes to keep you alive... it's a question of what do I need to do." Because he knew he'd do it regardless of what it was. "Guess I just wanted to be sure me being selfish didn't make you mad." Cause god, he knew he was selfish.
no subject
"You're not selfish, Bones." If wanting the people he cared about to be alive and safe, and being willing to do whatever it took to make that happen, made him selfish, then hell, Jim was selfish too. A lot of people would be, for that matter.
Lifting a hand up to cup Bones's face, he shifted in closer and leaned in to kiss him briefly on the lips. "Thank you for taking care of me," he said, because that was how he saw it every time Bones had his back or saved his life. Not an act of selfishness, but rather the opposite. "I promise to try and give you less causes for minor heart episodes."
no subject
Tipping his head with that touch to his face, he arched a brow at Jim before a slight curl of his lips made him smile against the kiss. Inhaling slowly, one hand lifted to trace the side of Jim's face. "You're welcome. Somebody's got to." The pad of his thumb shifted to slide over his lower lip before he pulled it away. Forcing himself to sit up, he huffed a soft laugh.
"Holdin' ya to that, sweetheart." Not that he had the highest of hopes. After all, Jim would do what he felt he needed to do. "You know, I've asked myself..." He looked away and moved to busy himself opening up a few containers to see what was in them. "If I'd been given the option to save my dad the way I did you... if I'd do it."
For a moment his hands stilled on one of the containers and he felt the lines in his brow furrow deeply. "It wouldn't have even been an option. I wouldn't have done it." His fingers tapped softly against the item before he shook his head. "And I wouldn't have done it for anyone else..."
no subject
Picking up the container, he held it in his lap while he listened to Bones, not finding any of what he said particularly sweet or comforting. He wondered if that was what Bones was aiming for, or where was he trying to get with this. He did have something to say about it, though.
"That's not true," he tipped his head, raising an eyebrow pointedly. "You'd have done it for Joanna, if no one else."
no subject
Breathing in slowly, he gave a curt not at that. Yeah. He would do that for Joanna. But then, she was the only person in the universe that he loved that much other than Jim. And he'd trade anything for either of them.
Pulling his legs up to cross them, he opened up the container to pull out the sandwich. Tipping his head to look at him, he arched a brow. "Thanks for listenin' anyhow." Maybe he'll sleep better at night without one more major thing eatin' at his conscience that he kept tapped down under lock and key.
And honestly, Jim bringing up Joanna just made another pain he'd been trying to push down come back to the surface.
no subject
Grabbing his own sandwich from the container, he took a small bite from it, using it as a way to keep himself distracted and busy more so than anything else. This wasn't what he'd been aiming for when he dragged Bones out here, though. Not to bring either of them down and having them feeling miserable. Certainly hadn't been his purpose when he brought up Joanna either.
"We should do this again sometime," he said to break the silence, scooting closer until they were sitting near each other. He caught one of Bones's hands, threading their fingers together and lifting it up to kiss his knuckles. "Maybe at night... I'm sure it looks even more wonderful, with the sky full of stars."
no subject
So he'd just have to try a little harder to fix the mood after bringing it down. Turning ideas over in his head, he only lifted his head in surprise when he felt Jim closer and his hand stolen for that touch of lips to his knuckles. Such a simple touch made him shiver and his lashes lower slowly. Huffing out a soft laugh, the lines of tension eased from his face as he ducked his head.
Jim always won at being so damn charming. Turning his head, he smiled at the other, his gaze softening at that idea that he threw out there. Really, how did he get so damn lucky? "Night under the stars with you? Why Jim, I think you're getting infected with my romantic side." He teased softly, but he knew Jim could be affected by that impulse to be romantic just as much as he could. They just showed it in different ways.
Leaning over, he pressed a kiss just under Jim's ear and smiled. "Sounds like a great idea to me."
no subject
"Yeah, I think I've got it bad," he said with a warm lilt, nudging lightly at Bones's side. He leaned in for another quick kiss, licking softly at Bones's lips before pulling away. Now, that... that was much better. And now he also looked forward to the prospect of spending a night out here with Bones, too. Just the two of them and the stars above. God help him, he really was turning into a hopeless romantic.
Letting go of Bones's hand, he brushed his fingers down Bones's jaw, thumb sweeping across his lower lip as he let out a soft little sigh. "We really should eat now." Jim was still a bit hungry, even if right now he was a little more distracted. There'd be plenty of time for kissing and cuddling afterwards, though, so he didn't complain. They'd have all the time they wanted to.
no subject
"Well, I mean, it's highly contagious after all. Only right you got infected, too." Teasing softly, he pulled Jim's hand to his lips and kissed the back of his hand. "S'alright. Looks pretty good on you." Sending Jim a wink, he let Jim's hand go when he pulled away. Only to let out a soft sigh as that hands smoothed over the features of his face.
For a moment, he couldn't help letting his eyes fall closed and a soft exhale escaped parted lips. "Probably should." Blinking his eyes open, he ended up chuckling and ducking his head. Of course Jim would get him all in a mess inside loving his touches only to tell him to eat. Though, probably all for the best. "You're too damn cute for your own good, you know that?" Affectionately rolling his eyes, he picked up his food again and this time put a real effort into eating.
no subject
A playful wink aimed right back at Bones, nipping one last time at his lips, then pulling away so he could turn his attention to his sandwich. Well, part of his attention, at least.
"Am I?" He glanced at Bones while taking a bite from his sandwich, glancing Bones up and down while he chewed on the food and swallowed it down. "You're pretty damn cute yourself, doc. Just for the record."
no subject
It felt better like this. Just enjoying each other and not dwelling on the other crap. Now just wasn't the time. Bumping his shoulder into Jim's, he rolled his eyes in amusement. "You think I'm cute, huh? That's a new one on me."
Shaking his head, he returned his attention to their surroundings. "Still if it works." He'd take any edge really. It was damn easy to get caught up in Jim Kirk's charisma, but he still sometimes wondered what Jim saw in him. Turning his head back to look at Jim, his gaze was warm and soft. "Look forward to seeing it out here under the night sky with you."
no subject
"Look forward to it," he said as he lifted a finger pointedly at Bones. "And no take backs now, or grousing about camping out here either." He fully intended on making it a romantic outing, of course, despite the setting. He'd find a way to make it work, so they wouldn't have to worry about dangers or wild creatures sneaking up on them during the night.
For now, though, he wanted to enjoy this little picnic adventure of theirs just as much. And take lots of pictures too, thanks to Bones's gift to him.
