introductory mingle: PRIJATA
what: Introductory Log and Prijata Celebration
when: June 1st - June 8th
where: Anywhere around the city.
warnings: please put any necessary warnings in the subject lines

In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire week. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.
i. gift fountain
While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the week, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the week.
Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. ETA: If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.
This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming posts on the OOC community and the TDM.
ii. speed-friending
This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!
For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!
iii. club exhibition
Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a week-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.
And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.
iv. unveiling the new friendr
Prijata this year is marked by something special - the unveiling of a code rebuild of the ubiquitous Friendr app! Anyone with the app installed already will receive a prompt to update the app, and if anyone hasn't yet downloaded it, they'll receive a quick, easily-dismissed pop-up ad on their device when they next access the network, asking if they want to. No one is obligated, and the ad is a one-time instance, intended to make sure any character who hasn't heard of the app gets a chance.
The Friendr app is a swipe-left-or-right style friend matching and/or dating app that is very common in Riverview, both for PCs and NPCs, and it has received an upgrade with a new appearance, a new interests line for more accurate matching, and a wide variety of themes so that the colors can be customized!
Please see the updated appearance below, with the 'default' color scheme. Players are free to change the colors or appearance of the code but please do not remove the credit line showing where the base code came from, out of respect for the code creator.

For this prompt, you can either post your character's new, fancy Friendr app profile in the comments, or provide a link to their updated code in an entry on their journal. Whatever floats your boat!
v. roommates or wildcard
Feel free to use this prompt to set up headers for a communal floor, or threads open to roommates for the purpose of getting to know each other. Or if you have an idea for a prompt that isn't in this list, set during Prijata, feel free to write it up!

And quite honestly, after all the space exploration, he kind of wanted to just go out and see something different than just the safety of work and home. Well, now that he was seein' it, he couldn't help but wonder what happened to make such a gorgeous place empty out and slowly die. It reminded him a bit of Chernobyl pictures after decades of nature taking over after humanity could no longer be there. And where the skeletons of the amusement park and riverwalk were beautiful, he also found the emptiness of it putting him on edge.
Rightly so, since he'd been told monsters liked to slink about the ruins just as much as they themselves did. "Strange seein' ruins of a modern city that look almost as old as one of the native ruins back on earth." Like those of the Mayans specifically and how the rain forest tended to try and reclaim those lands through all of the stone and abandoned buildings. "Damn pretty for bein' so... empty."
no subject
The walk wasn't long or particularly strenuous, definitely nothing like their two weeks well outside the city perimeter. Not all that eventful either, as they only crossed paths with smaller or more harmless fauna, the animals either not paying them any mind or simply running off when they got closer.
As the trees became fewer and they gradually moved from the forest onto one of the cobbled pathways leading into the city, Jim reached out to Bones, taking his hand and weaving their fingers loosely. Probably not the most best of situations, but then again, they weren't on a mission. They were simply taking a walk, and most of the city still had plenty of streets and roads that were mostly undamaged.
"It's beautiful." Empty, yes. Abandoned, too. Sad, to some degree, but a wonder to get to see, especially when there was no one else around. "There's a pathway that walks right along the waterfalls. You look down and you see the water falling... Just takes your breath away."
no subject
Jim's words broke through his thoughts and drew his eyes to the other man. For a moment, he felt that rising 'sappy' feelin' that made him want to say yeah, sure it was beautiful, but he knew he just liked seeing Jim out and lively like this. So he took a moment to look around the landscape again and truly start fixating on the 'beauty' of it and not just the fascination that came with the state of decay and emptiness.
"Yeah... it is." It had a strangely ethereal charm to everything. The world was just, beautiful... like it tried to clean up the mess and start over. "I like the sound of what you're talkin' about. Wanna show me?" Squeezing his hand gently, he pulled the other man just a little.
Maybe he was eager to see what Jim described, but truthfully, he knew it was more that he liked this. Being with Jim just the two of them hand in hand. So yeah, he was a little excited. And when he glanced at Jim, he couldn't help the smile before chuckling. "Happily followin' you, sweetheart."
no subject
Not that Jim expected anything like that to happen, but better safe than sorry, and Bones of all people would always prepare for the worst. Which was a good thing when Jim likely wouldn't have been as zealous about that.
Jim looked back at Bones as he so easily agreed to see the waterfalls. It was a particularly high walkway, and Jim wouldn't have imagined Bones going along so easily, but the doctor really seemed to be in a good mood today. He was yet to hear him complain about anything, and while that was strange, it was also kinda nice. Hopefully it would stay that way once he saw how high up they would be, and how steep the waterfalls were when he looked down. (If he looked down.)
Squeezing Bones's hand in his own, he tugged him along as he turned towards that pathway, his pace a leisurely stroll. "Come on. This way."
no subject
Truth was, he wanted out of the walls for some other reason than risking their lives for a mission. If this was their new home, he felt he should at least get to know it. Which was part of why he scanned a lot of the flora along the way to the research facility. It would be a good idea to know what he had to work with. Who knew what he could learn to do with the indigenous life.
Still, this wasn't about that. He'd purprosely not tried to scan anything today because he followed Jim out here for a whole other reason. Call him ridiculous, but this felt a little like a date. Even if it was more a Jim Kirk flavored outing, he found he wanted to a great deal. Hell, he missed Jim draggin' him on away missions just because he could even though so many command staff shouldn't go planet side at once. Even if he could complain about that, he never did. Because even if he never admitted it, he liked that Jim wanted him around that much. (Regardless of how much he might dislike the idea of some places entirely.)
He could tell the path was steep. It seemed to travel at a progressive climb all the way up to the location. Granted, he really hadn't expected it to be that high up till they actually reached their destination. On impulse, his hand clutched tighter at Jim's hand as he let his eyes slide over the scenery slowly. For now he was a safe distance from the edge, but something about the vista made him want to step closer and look around. "Beautiful..." Leonard let the word slip out softly before he tried a slowly move closer toward the edge. He meant that word. The whole of the view was gorgeous even if he was afraid of the negative possibilities that came with rocky ledges and large drops.
no subject
It was sort of a date, to him. An unusual date, granted, but it was just the two of them, taking the easiest path to the abandoned city, while bringing everything they needed to settle down on a quiet little corner with a nice view for a picnic and a bit of lazying about. With no one else around, they could also indulge in... less appropriate activities, too. Jim was far too confident that he could talk Bones into it, anyway.
The walk was steep, and once they reached the narrow stone bridge drawing over the waterfalls, Jim made sure to stick close to the center. The height didn't faze him much, but he knew Bones likely wouldn't be as big of a fan, though it did surprise him a little when he stepped closer to the edge so he could get a better look. The bridge was sturdy, though, he had made sure of that, and he held Bones's hand firmly just in case he tripped or lost his balance. "Thought you'd like it, too."
no subject
Scrunching his nose a little at that slight vertigo, he finally turned his head back to Jim and let the corner of his lips rise in a half smile. "Pretty damn gorgeous." Angling his head a little, he added a little amused. "I always rolled my eyes at Romantic Era writers and their thing for nature. Guess this kinda proves there really is that sublime thing they talked about."
Stepping back, he felt his body brush against Jim's with the motion. "Worth takin' pictures of, wouldn't you think?" The smile on his lips widened just a little as he tipped his head. Opening up the satchel with his medkit, he pulled out another significantly sized box wrapped in brown paper and offered it to Jim. "They were talkin' about gift givin', saw this and thought just maybe you'd like it." It's a bit old fashioned, but he knew Jim liked classic things. And a manual SLR camera just seemed like a great gift at the time.
He just hoped Jim agreed when he opened it.
no subject
"Knew you'd like it." Sometimes things like this were hit-or-miss with Bones, but they weren't on some serious or dangerous mission, and were simply enjoying the scenery and each other's company. He had a feeling Bones would know to appreciate the beauty of all this when there was pretty much nothing else for him to worry about. He chuckled at the last remark, though, shaking his head a little. "That'll teach you not to judge."
Not that Jim disagreed, but also he did like Romantic era novels and poems a lot more than Bones did. Even the overly romantic and flourish-y ones. He cocked his head a little when Bones pulled from him and reached into his satchel to dig out a wrapped gift. Jim perked up almost immediately, of course, accepting the gift and stopping in his tracks just so he could unwrap it.
His eyes lit up as soon as he realized what it was. Smile opening up into a wide grin, he let out a chuckle before he lifted his eyes up to Bones, holding the box in one hand while the other curled around the back of Bones's neck, and he stepped closer and leaned in to kiss him, slow and lingering.
no subject
And maybe that was just a silly thought brought on by the company and the feeling that came with the fact his company was Jim. Turning away from the vista, his eyes dropped to where Jim worked to open the gift, a nervous tension pooling in his gut as he waited for some indicator of what Jim's verdict would be. And if he thought he might be able to breathe when he knew Jim liked it, that brilliant expression went and took his damn breath away.
Smiling back, he ducked his head a little before reacting instantly to Jim's proximity. His hands moved to rest on the other's hips before leaning in to meet those lips. Squeezing his hips, one hand released that hold to move and cup the side of his face gently, tips of his fingers playing at Jim's hairline before dipping into the short strands at the back of his head. Pulling him closer, he just barely stopped himself from deepening the kiss. Instead he tipped his head and pressed their foreheads together. "You keep that up, gorgeous, and you're gonna make me weak in the knees." And really... they weren't standing in an ideal place for that.
no subject
"Better move this to more stable ground, then," he smiled, stealing another quick kiss from Bones's lips before pulling away. He lifted the box in his hands again, looking it over, removing the rest of the wrapping paper and tucking it away in his own bag, so he could recycle it once they made it back to the city.
"Does it have a film? Kinda want to use it right now."
no subject
Once he was clear of the bridge, he opened up his bag again and held out two small canisters to the other man with a slight curl to his lips as he shrugged his shoulders. "Wanted to see if you really liked it or not before I pulled these out. Didn't want to assume you'd be that excited about it."
He held them out to Jim and lifted a shoulder smiling at him lightly. "Figured I'd have it and be prepared anyway. Guess since you seem so pleased, you'll be happy to know I got everything you'd need to develop them yourself, too. But if that's not up your alley, we can take it back and find somethin' else."
no subject
"Are you kidding? I love it. But now we're gonna have to find a house where I can set up a darkroom." He really wanted to make that happen, now. He'd already been excited enough at the prospect of getting an old digital camera— this was even more exciting, even if he knew he had a lot to learn about it.
Taking a few pictures of the scenery, he made sure to not go through half the film in one go. Or else he was gonna run out of film before they even made it back to the Quarantine. "I didn't bring any of your gifts with me," he said in tone of confession, stepping closer to kiss Bones again. "Think you can wait until we make it back?"
no subject
"I'm glad. But I think you're right. Guess we got a good thing to look for now while we house shop." Something he didn't mind at all. He'd actually considered that when he got the camera and supplies. Jim would need space for it. And he felt like it was even something he could do while he worked. Take pictures of what he saw and the like. It just felt like the right choice even if he worried about it.
Slipping his hands into his pockets, he found that sure, there was plenty to look at around them, but he actually liked watching Jim snap pictures even better. So when Jim did move closer to him, the smile on his face was warm and easy, relaxed more than he usually would considering they were standing on a high waterfall. Smiling into that kiss, he moved on hand to just lightly touch the side of Jim's face. "Not worried about it, darlin'. I can wait." Not that he didn't feel slightly excited at the thought of Jim getting him something.
no subject
"Glad to hear," he nodded, nipping at Bones's lips one last time before pulling away, leading the way a bit further away from the waterfalls. He didn't plan on getting them too deep into the city for now, since he'd enjoy settling down for their picnic on a place with a nice view, though hopefully not where they might get ambushed by dangerous wild creatures. "Come on, let's find a spot to set up for lunch. I'm hungry."
no subject
One hand lifted to cup the side of Jim's face, his thumb trailing over his cheekbone lightly as he nipped his lip. Smiling softly, he let the other man go so he could force them to move forward. Not that he liked giving up touching him, but he knew the current location was ideal. "Speaking of food, I made a few things for you back home." It was more an after thought when Jim mentioned it. He'd had some time and figured it would give things to grab and go or just enjoy for a little while. Likely too damn spoiling, but sometimes he found it hard not to with Jim. "Got a spot in mind you want to head toward?"
no subject
Leading the way closer towards the city, he looked around, trying to find a good spot for them to set up camp, so to speak. "You did? Not trying to fatten me up, are you?" The chances were low, and really, Jim was just teasing Bones. Far be it from him to ever complain about how Bones liked cooking for him.
Spotting a small patch of grass overlooking the waterfalls and the forest beyond, and with the sight of the abandoned city behind them, he nodded towards it. It also offered them a good vantage point in case any creatures tried to sneak up on them. "Over there. That looks nice."
no subject
Which was silly when it came to Jim. The man rarely let him down unless it was completely out of his hands to control the situation. So maybe it was that truth that let it keep getting him more excited. Not that he said much about it. "Darlin', I'm a doctor. I am not gonna fatten you up. I just oddly enough, enjoy spoilin' your ass."
Probably more than he should.
Tipping his head to look where Jim pointed, he gave it a cursory glance before nodding. It looked relatively safe. Good view of all directions both aesthetically and safety wise. "Looks good." He angled his head to the stuff Jim was carrying. "So what did you bring to eat, by the way?"
no subject
"Oddly yet luckily," Jim added, smiling at Bones. Because Jim would be an idiot not to thoroughly enjoy the way Bones spoiled him— and he certainly didn't think it was too much. Not by a long shot.
"Nothing special," he shrugged as he led the way towards the spot he'd pointed out, shrugging off his backpack once they reached it. "Just a few sandwiches, some fruit and cookies. Easy stuff to carry and eat. Didn't go too overboard." He took the blanket from inside the bag first, stretching it out across the grass, gesturing towards it. "Make yourself comfortable."
no subject
Watching the other set up the picnic, he felt something warm build up in his chest. Jim could be oddly romantic in ways. Sweet and thoughtful and honestly, what he called not going overboard was likely more than Jim really ever did for anyone else. And well, that was damn attractive.
Which was why he moved over to Jim instead of sittin' and wrapped his arms about the other man's shoulders from behind. Tucking his head into the crook of Jim's neck, he pressed soft kisses to his neck. Nothing intensely sensual, but sweet and soft while pulling him close. "You never cease to amaze me, ya know that?"
no subject
The hug was a little sudden but not unwelcome, and he sniled and relaxed against Bones, turning his head enough to glance at him over his shoulder. "It's just a picnic blanket, Bones," he pointed out with a trace of amusement to his tone. Still, he turned around in Bones's arms, so that he was facing him. "Right back at you, doc."
no subject
Still, that aside, he loved this. Loved the idea that Jim put effort into something on his own and it centered on him. Not that Jim wasn't thoughtful. When he put his mind to it, Jim was amazing and got the required amount done and more. It lie more in the fact that the doctor never really had anyone go this far for him.
When Jim turned around in his arms, he lowered his arms to lightly wrap about his waist before leaning in closer to touch their foreheads softly. "It's not just that to me. I know... bein' a real sap." Lifting one hand, he slipped his fingertips over Jim's jaw and smirked a little. "You're worth it." Everything really. Not that he wanted to stand there and sappily lay it out for him. Jim likely wouldn't want him to.
no subject
In some ways, Jim had aimed for that himself, over the past few years. Sometimes it was hard to forget. To overlook some details, or not realize that some people might need that extra bit of attention. He didn't think of himself as a bad friend by any means, but he knew he could've been a better one, at times. He just hoped he could make up for any potential failings over the years now that they were together.
"Just the perfect amount of sap, if you ask me," Jim smiled warmly, cheeks flushing just a hint as he caught Bones's hand, kissing the palm. "So are you, Leonard."
no subject
Lifting one hand from the other man's waist, he lifted it to gently cup the side of his face. The pad of his thumb rolled over Jim's cheek bone before he leaned in till their lips nearly touched. "Say stuff like that and you might just melt me." His voice dropped lower, richer, as he tipped his head and kissed the corner of his lips. Because Jim did melt him when he said things like that or did things like this.
For now, he didn't want to move back. The doctor wanted this closeness. The bone deep warmth of Jim Kirk. And it wasn't the first time he realized that every year he spent with Jim, even before this right there, was the best of his life. "Think you're gonna have'ta pull away... Too easy to just stay like this." Maybe not in this exact position, but he wanted to touch Jim and kiss him... and the man put too much effort into plannin' all this.
no subject
Smiling softly at first, his lips quirked at the corner in mild amusement. He placed Bones's hand on his chest, settling his hands briefly on the doctor's waist. "Well, can't have that, now." He stole a few more soft kisses, just barely touching the corner of Bones's lips, then finally pulled away so they could both get settled on the blanket.
"Come on. Sit down," he tugged on Bones's arm as he kneeled on the ground, moving onto a sitting position.
no subject
And yet he was.
Hazel eyes flicked up to Jim's as he watched the flicker of everything bright and beautiful about him through a smile or how soft his lips felt with each tiny playful kiss. Shit, he couldn't be more in love with this man if he wanted to be. For a moment all he could do was stand there, the smallest of lines furrowing in his brow as he watched the blonde settle on the blanket.
"Do you ever resent me for putting your life before everything else?" It came out quiet, a low question as his hands dropped to his sides, mind caught in that moment he'd had to 'call a time of death' on Jim. And he refused to. Refused to let him die no matter what horrible thing he had to do or try. He let other people die. Called times of death and forced himself to accept somethings he couldn't fix. Couldn't do.
But everything was different when it came to Jim. And it never really occurred to him what Jim thought about that. Because even if Jim asked him to, he likely wouldn't break his oath to save anyone else like that. Strangely enough, that realization was sobering. So as he lowered down onto the blanket next to Jim, he couldn't help wondering, had it ever bothered him?
