prijata

In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

a celebration of platonic love

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire week. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.

i. gift fountain

While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the week, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the week.

Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. ETA: If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.

This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming posts on the OOC community and the TDM.

ii. speed-friending

This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!

For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!

iii. club exhibition

Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a week-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.

And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.

iv. unveiling the new friendr

Prijata this year is marked by something special - the unveiling of a code rebuild of the ubiquitous Friendr app! Anyone with the app installed already will receive a prompt to update the app, and if anyone hasn't yet downloaded it, they'll receive a quick, easily-dismissed pop-up ad on their device when they next access the network, asking if they want to. No one is obligated, and the ad is a one-time instance, intended to make sure any character who hasn't heard of the app gets a chance.

The Friendr app is a swipe-left-or-right style friend matching and/or dating app that is very common in Riverview, both for PCs and NPCs, and it has received an upgrade with a new appearance, a new interests line for more accurate matching, and a wide variety of themes so that the colors can be customized!

Please see the updated appearance below, with the 'default' color scheme. Players are free to change the colors or appearance of the code but please do not remove the credit line showing where the base code came from, out of respect for the code creator.

So the type of club you're actually interested in is more of a special "night club," isn't it?

[He lets his folded hands drop away, but he's still smiling, despite the rudeness. It's interesting to him to have someone speaking to him like that, honestly.] By the way, I think the legal age is 18 across the board, here, though I could be wrong. Do I look more youthful than that?

[He's 19 now, but sickly, and definitely a pretty boy. He just wants to see what Spike will say to this...]

I've been sickly ever since I was young, so I'm well aware that I could die at any point. The same can't be said for everyone, but that sort of reckless living is what it might mean to have such youth. I hope you aren't bothered by it because you've missed out on your own youth?

But that was a long, long time ago. And now I've had all this time to have fun and as I'm here with no say so on my end, I'd like to keep having fun. Which means actual fun clubs and not these little homeschool adventure games.

[What an odd person. He's interesting, but very crude, and Eichi isn't used to hearing speech like that. It's... is it thrilling? Maybe it is. It's different, that's for sure, and he's a little interested.]

If that's your type, I do have a suggestion. [Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out some sort of card and holds it out to Spike. It simply says Resilience on the front, in dark, glittering letters, and an address on the back.]

It's one of the lesser known night clubs that I perform at, but I think it would be more suited to your tastes. There's always a line at the door, and they only allow certain types to come inside. [The rest of his clubs match a lot better with his on stage "angelic" appearance he goes for, but this one... Well, he's not really used to the crowd. He's adapting.] Or is that also too dull, because it was me who handed it to you? You shouldn't judge a book by its cover, you know. [He says this but he's still just a rich boy]

[Spike reaches for the card, looking it over before looking up at the young one who gave it to him.]

And exactly what sort of 'performing' do you do? Not naked in a cage dancing, is it? Because I don't swing that way, mate.

[It was all adding up for him that way, after all. Slender young man. 'Secret' club. Certain types. Did he look like a poofter? Spike looked down at himself, just to double check.]

[For the first time this conversation, he's actually offended. Excuse the fuck out of you?? But he is a gentleman, a Tenshouin, an idol, and so he just smiles thinly.]

No, though I have had a number of people ask me for similar things. An idol should maintain a pure and respectful image, you know? That's what I am. On stage, I'm untouchable, and I suppose that group of people finds it a bit thrilling. It's not my job to monitor how they enjoy my shows, just that they are being enjoyed.

I do sing and dance, for the record.

[Good. He got a rise. Makes him all warm and tingly inside.]

A what now? Idol of what? Oh, don't tell me people worship you... What sort of backwards world do you come from?

[His smile stays right in place...] I wouldn't say that people don't worship me, but I wouldn't say that they do, either, you know? An idol is what you call someone who sings and dances, a performance for the masses... That word has different definitions, you know? Think "celebrity."

Right.

[One of the countries he didn't visit that often -- or at all.]

Celebrity. Media whore. S'pose it's all the same thing, eh? Isn't there something in the bible about worshiping false idols? Seems like an intentional smack in the face, that.

Fufu... To which religion, I wonder? Regardless, it's natural for humans to attempt to reach the status of a God, through whatever means necessary. For someone going around separating himself from humans, aren't you also on that path?

Is it? I think not, mate. And no, I'm not on any path. I am different from humans. Vampire. Clearly not a human.

Trust me, I'm not anything like you. I'd have to kill myself all over again if I was.

A vampire, is it? Is that why you're roaming around at this hour? I wonder, do you also sleep in a coffin?

[He's smiling as he asks this, almost like he's humoring a child. He can't help it— after dealing with people like Rei Sakuma, he finds it hard to believe that anyone can really be a vampire. He's seen aliens and many other things, but vampires?]

Coffin's too cramped. Trust me, when you wake up in one hand have to claw your way out of your own grave, you lose your flavor for sleeping in one after that. Don't mind sleeping on them, though.

[Sleeping on coffins is even edgier than sleeping in them, somehow. That gets a pause out of Eichi, since it seems like he's really serious, and then he's leaning forward over his little booth and peering at him.]

Do you have fangs?

[Spike smiled. He couldn't help it. This was just going to be too easy.]

I do. Would you like to see them...?

Hm? Do you normally hide them away like a secret? Can you reveal them like a trick? When you say it like that, it does make me a little curious.

[Like, this seems fine...]

Say please and I'll show you...

[Oh. Please. Please say please.]

[He doesn't fully understand, as ominous as Spike sounds, trailing off like that... But he is genuinely curious, so no matter what, he wants to see, right?]

Well, since you asked so nicely...

[Spike was smiling as his faced morphed into something less than human. Something with sharper, longer fangs and a more ridged brow bone. Something that snapped its jaws together in a grin as he looked over at Eichi.]

[Oh, wow, okay, he was way cuter before. Eichi has seen a lot of disgusting and horrible things by now, but he's still just an idol, so that makes him pull right back from how he was leaning forward. Surprise can't be hidden from his expression, but he does try to react calmly.]

...So it is like a trick. I see.

[He was gorgeous before, Eichi. Thank you. But he liked that reaction -- up until the words.]

S'not a trick. Bloody hell. I'm a demon. Grr. Argh.

[He even brought his hands up to look... scary. It would help if he could actually do something besides bark.]
