Even though it hadn't been his intention, and he knew it hadn't been Leonard's either, the mood was more somber now, a strange sort of quiet settling between them. Jim's eyes kept flickering up to the doctor, watching him with slight apprehension, though for a few moments he didn't say anything.

Grabbing his own sandwich from the container, he took a small bite from it, using it as a way to keep himself distracted and busy more so than anything else. This wasn't what he'd been aiming for when he dragged Bones out here, though. Not to bring either of them down and having them feeling miserable. Certainly hadn't been his purpose when he brought up Joanna either.

"We should do this again sometime," he said to break the silence, scooting closer until they were sitting near each other. He caught one of Bones's hands, threading their fingers together and lifting it up to kiss his knuckles. "Maybe at night... I'm sure it looks even more wonderful, with the sky full of stars."
