Jim personally is used to different climates and environments, after being on various away missions on all sorts of planets— even if Starfleet doesn't condone the Captain taking part in those unless absolutely necessary. Jim would go crazy otherwise, though. But he's always had the luxury of being able to go back to the ship eventually, shower and change, not have to live through weeks or months without certain amenities he considers pretty basic.
