He winced slightly at that answered and ducked his head. Yeah, likely not his better questions he'd asked. Breathing in slowly, he started to apologize, but Jim seemed to roll on past it and likely didn't want to talk about it. Clenching his jaw, he Finally looked back up at him when Jim asked that question.

Nodding his head quickly, he felt a flush of embarrassment and probably even a little bit of shame as he started to unravel himself from Jim. "No point wasting your hard work. Just save dessert till after dinner." He smiled at him even if it was a little strained from feeling like a damn heel.

Catching Jim's hands as he pulled away, he squeezed them softly then turned to the stove. If nothing else, he would get dinner together and hopefully shake that feeling of guilt off. Pulling out plates, he started to fill them with the food. Once they were both put together, he picked them up and glanced back at Jim. "Wanna grab the silverware and something for us to drink?"

Moving toward the small table, he slid them both onto the table.
