"Is that a complaint, Jim Kirk?" He chuckled, knowing full well that Jim wasn't really complaining. He knew what Jim sounded like when he complained, but at the same time, he liked teasing the the young captain for all he was worth. And maybe it also earned Jim a smart pinch to his hip for his troubles. "I won't stop you from trying. Cause I'll own up to the fact this made me happy. Still does."

Normally he would've just said thank you. Let Jim know in a subtler way he appreciated it. But thinking back at the look of frustration and disappointment he'd seen in Jim when he first walked in, he felt the man deserved more than that. After all, Jim making an effort for him meant more than he realized it would.

Shaking his head at himself as he finished chopping the vegetables, he put olive oil and water at the base of a pan before getting them ready to steam. Adding the seasoning as he felt Jim's chin on his shoulder, he smiled slowly. Sliding the pot closed, he moved it to the stove without breaking the contact with Jim. "Wanna learn how to make gravy and sauce or do you like your view from there?" Turning his head a little, he smiled at Jim warmly.
