Smiling at Jim fondly, he gave his hip a soft squeeze before pulling away completely to go to the fridge. Methodically pulling out a few key vegetables and deposited them on the counter. Pressing his lips together, he considered the options before pulling out ingredients to make brown gravy. That could at least moisten up the beef a bit without having to do too much. Once he organized the items into where he needed them, he pulled out a cutting board and sat a knife on it. "Mind depositing the meat here so we can start doing surgery?"
He sent Jim an amused grin, and with a wink he stepped back and moved to the rice so Jim could do as he asked. Carefully moving the rice that wasn't scorched to the bottom into a bowl, he managed to save a good bit of it before dumping the burned part into the trash. "Rice can be tricky, and I'm pretty sure I've always managed to brown at least some to the bottom. Honestly, I think what pot you use has a lot to do with it." In all truth, he wasn't surprised it happened when Jim tried to do more than one thing at once. Even he did that once in a while.
Once he set that aside to fix later, he shifted behind Jim and dipped his head to rest his chin on his shoulder, hands sliding down his biceps softly. "Ready to do some carving, captain?" Pausing a moment, he decided he knew Jim could easily do this himself, but he wanted to stay close a moment. Touch him and well, stay in his space. Which was why his hand slid down over his forearms till they curled around his hands lightly. "Mind if I help?"
That time the words were said softly just behind the other man's ear just before he kissed the skin there. "Unless you'd rather be time efficient and I work on something else right now?"
