The two of them were three days away from the relative safety of the city and it's walls, and at this point Alex was never going to be leaving them again, thank you. She was pale, perhaps more pale than she'd been in most of the time that she's known him with the exception being when she'd been kidnapped. She was pale and she was shaking and the one thing that she was doing was not letting go of his hand, despite the order that he'd given her. Richard should know her bettet than that because Alex Reagan listened less well than the cat at their house and she certainly wasn't the sort of person who left someone that she loved facing something that was her fear.
"If you think I'm going off without you, you're crazy enough to need a flannel shirt." Alex's voice was a soft hiss, and she just held onto him all the more tightly for it. The wide fear in her eyes wasn't going away, but at least she was facing it on her feet for the moment, even if she was trembling all the way down into her core. Despite what she'd said, she still feels the need to ask him, one eye on him and the on the demon that has haunted her for so long. "You see it, right?" The tiniest of whispers, because she can raise her voice for yelling at him, but yelling at this was something else entirely.

"Allllleeexxxx," the thing said again, breathing the word of her name around her in a wind that she could swear she could feel. "Allllexxx Reagan, the reason that the world will end. Because you were selfish and could not walk away from, a man who you were not supposed to have feelings for."

"That's not true. It's not going to happen. We're not going to do that." But her voice is soft and uncertain, the fear giving a tremor to her words that she hates and wants to shake herself for.
