Honestly, for Alex she'd probably been a lot closer to it than she'd let on. After all, she was believer in her little group, and so she'd been already sort of believing in things even before she'd gotten her memories back of the demon in her bedroom. More than that, Alex had been here for a while, and had checked books out of the library at the magical school and she was trying to read cruciform, so she was dialed into believing now.
