Honestly Alex didn't need to be in that bad of state to make bad jokes. They were very much an Alex Reagan defense mechanism and one that she busted out whenever she was feeling like things weren't going well. In her mind, this definitely wasn't going well, and as soon as the water bottle was in her hand, Alex took a long sip from it before she dropped onto her butt on the ground with a loud groan. "You know, I'm pretty sure that I've never had such a terrible idea that was so well supported!" Normally when she suggested something like this someone (Richard) would shout her down. But no, this was something that he was all for.

Even if he laughed at her when she came home and quite seriously just wanted to fall into bed and maybe die.

"God," she added, stretching her rubbery arms a bit and then cringing as a fresh burst of pain worked through her, "I can't imagine how bad this would be if I didn't run every day and Richard didn't make me take up rowing with him." Honestly, that was his solution when she returned home and fell into a heap: more rowing. If she kept this up, she may or may not end up dying before she got home. Or ending up being buff as hell and not having her shirts fit her anymore. Which was fine, she'd just steal his. They definitely looked better on her anyway.
