The invitation had been open for about as long as he'd known her, but the odd hours Peter kept meant he didn't always make it there. Still, he was entirely too English to be able to avoid tea for long. And he and Alex were clearly very overdue for a conversation or two.
So he made a point of finding the time, work carefully arranged so that when he walked into the Coffee Shop to spot Alex bent over a book, Peter had no compunctions about just settling in across from her. He might not have mentioned to her that he was coming today. He got his amusement where he could.
