Solo (CLOSED)
who: Cable (CLOSED)
what: Distracting bad guys/crazy people.
when: When the plan to rescue everyone goes into action.
where: The River Structure
warnings: Violence...lotta violence.
Cable slips in first as he planned, deciding there wasn't enough people ready to do this part of the job. He couldn't blame them really. It took a certain type. Fortunately they had him on their side, the mutant strapped head to toe with a variety of weaponry. Knives, bullets, guns--he's a walking armory and not even breaking a sweat about it.
A guard is killed with a slit of the throat, Cable making sure to clamp a hand over the man's mouth so that he won't make his position. Slowly he lowers the body to the ground and moves on. A guard here or a guard there, it doesn't matter. As locked and loaded as he is, nothing gets a man in quiet quite like a blade--and the occasional psychic shielding. He tries not to rely on that too much since he's in this for the long-haul and needs to conserve his energy. Eventually he finds himself above a group of cultists and drops in from above, landing solidly on his feet.
Not a Superhero Landing (TM) so much as a Usual Badass Cable Landing..patent pending. "Surprise, motherfuckers!"
Cable throws the knife he'd been using into the neck of a cultist hopeful and tosses a couple of flash-bang grenades. The men cry out as Cable whips out a shotgun and starts firing. The gunshots echo loudly throughout the chambers and it isn't long at all before cultists come looking for what all the fuss and noise was about. What they see is Cable, standing in the middle of a group of their comrades, holes in different parts of their bodies.
It was a pretty good chunk right here. The sort of amount Cable was hoping to get the attention of. They call for more to join them, so Cable rolls a grenade their way and heads the way he came while the men gather themselves in the confusion from the explosion that very swiftly followed via that grenade he threw. The mutant leads the men along and puts up a telepathic cloak. He watches as the men walk through the corridor past him, waiting to hear what they might be planning. When one of them mentions bringing out a portable power suppressor, Cable uses his eye to single the man's heat signature out and steps into the group of men. He pulls back with his now empty shotgun and swings the weapon like a bat as hard as he can.
The gun shatters as a loud crack bounces off of the walls. Cable drops the remaining bits of the gun and pulls out a large machine gun and ducks, turning on his heel as he pulls the trigger and fires away. The corridor lights up in flashes of gunfire as the bullets rip through the men. He doesn't care what they might be wearing; he made sure his guns were only the best Riverview had to offer. Turns out they have a pretty good selection.
The cultists that try to attack his free side discover this when Cable pulls out a grenade launcher with his free hand and pulls the trigger. The explosion is tremendous, as are the amounts of blood and limbs that go flying every which way. It splashes the walls, paints the ground--and splatters on Cable every now and again. He doesn't much care though as he casually drops the emptying machine gun in favor of another shotgun.
Boom. Boom. Boom. A steady rhythm of death and destruction is being orchestrated in a way that only Cable knows. Everything may as well be moving in slow motion as bullets rain down and clips fall away. Weapons clatter, shots are fired. It doesn't matter. He's focused.
"It's going to be a long day." He mutters to himself, not minding in the least as Cable and the cultists weave a battle that has to be seen to be believed. Or, in this particular exception, one simply just needs to know the exceptional mutant commonly referred to as Cable. Born and bred into war not just for the sake of it, but to defend the future and protect the past at all costs. The enemies may change--they always did with time--but the goal was always the same, burned into him from his time with the Askani. Coming to Riverview didn't change this. Going anywhere never would. It was something he linked with keeping Hope safe back home, and if she ever saw herself coming to Riverview, then it would apply here as well.
Save the future.
