It is unfortunate that it is often that way in various aspects of life as well.

[Not all walks of life, but there are those who can make things difficult. Thankfully there are those who are the opposite, that don't try to climb on the backs of others to get ahead, but help those along instead.]

But at least there was nothing truly lost, and a lesson learned.
