[Had Dorian taken personal offense to the threatening of the destruction of a world on the basis of it being in dire need of reform? Well, yes, actually. He'd only recently (by two years at least) assisted in the defeat of a man risen to godhood whose purpose was much to the same: to destroy his world to reform it as he saw it should be.]

Ah, so a predecessor of yours also failed to see the selfishness in a people so egotistically clinging to life in a world fated for destruction? He sounds as though he was a decent sort.

[He laughs, though it's a high-pitched, slightly disgusted sound, but not one of surprise.]

You agreed with him. Strange, how things of such common practice, "just the way it is", tend to be seen for the foul, cruel things they are when people of sense and reason stop to wonder what it is we do those things, isn't it? Why it's as though there may have been a better way all along, but "tradition" won out over humanity.

[A bench isn't far, and Dorian moves the few steps it takes to relieve himself of his lantern burden atop the seat before turning back to the Tetherer, hands folded before him.]

The question I pose to you is this: will you choose to fly in the face of tradition, seek to find a way to avoid the damnation of worlds never given the chance to save themselves, or will you do just as you were taught in this haven of yours, assume your teachers were correct, that these worlds are beyond the saving, and assure what "must be done" is done?
