Unfortunately, a new figure rushes into the fray and it isn't someone Hux trusts Ren not to similarly smash into a pulp, someone Hux actually likes, so his choice is effectively made for him from the moment Kirk tries to break up the fight; it's his turn to shoulder his way in between Jim and Ren, pushing firmly into the latter's chest to encourage backing up and not hurling a fist at Jim for the captain daring to touch him. ]
