Its a complicated thing, Athelstan's faith and vows. He had once been so good at resisting temptations even living amongst Vikings. He had been able to learn about their ways, take the good from them and never abandon his own faith but it had grown an agony inside him when he could see both proof of the Christian God and yet the Norse gods as well. He had failed with his chastity vow but the others he had remained true to.
