Hopper hasn't found a job yet. He really should, he thinks, lend his expertise to the law enforcement community around here, but there's also something about doing that which puts him off. He'll make up his mind soon, he reckons.

But until then he thinks he might take his midday meal and settle in on the riverbank, tossing stones in now and then. After taking a couple bites of his sandwich, he pulls out a cigarette and lights it. Puffing contemplatively he looks in the direction of some people preparing to walk by—and happens to catch a glimpse of Athelstan nearby. He gives the other man a nod.
