9_in_japanese. Keith might have also asked for some help gathering snacks and other things when he invited people. He definitely got the cake on his own, though.

[Keith had made a bunch of calls leading up to this. And now everything was set. It was sort of surprise in that he hadn't told Shiro that there was going to be a party, but he also didn't have everyone arriving before him to jump out. Jumping out would likely be bad, so he set it up so that it would be just him and the Lions when Shiro got back to a decorated house, and then people would start arriving after that.

Once the party got going, there would be music and snacks and cake and presents and games. For someone who doesn't like to be social, Keith actually managed to pull off a half-decent party when he had the right motivation. It wasn't a huge affair, though, kind of low-key and chill. People could relax and do whatever.

Afterwards, Keith wouldn't ask for help cleaning up, but he wouldn't turn it down, either, if someone wanted to be nice and pitch in.]

[Keith was actually a little nervous, and kind of excited. He had Shiro's present ready and wanted to give it to him while no one else was around. He also was really hoping Shiro wasn't going to kill him for this...

Black had attempted to reassure Keith that this was okay, and that Shiro would be surprised, but appreciate the effort put into it. Keith hoped so...

He paced a little as he waited for Shiro to get in.]

[Keith was actually in pretty good spirits. He was proud of setting this up for Shiro, and it was important to him that people have fun. In a way, it was his way of paying Shiro back for the nice party he had put together back in October for Keith, and he wanted to make sure it went well. He made the rounds, trying to be a good host and making sure things were going well.

Red once again had a party hat on, having insisted to Keith that she needed one again because she had one last time and that's what people did at these things. Black had declined when Keith originally asked.

Afterwards, Keith insisted that he was okay handling the clean up, and didn't outright ask for any help, but, if someone wanted to help, they wouldn't be turned away. Well, unless that person was Shiro. Then Keith made sure he wasn't helping clean up after a party for him.]

[ Hana is already present as the rest of the guests filter in after Keith's initial reveal for Shiro, having been with the birthday boy when he returned to the house to find the surprise. It's only natural, of course, given that the two of them are now dating. It's still a fairly new affair, meaning that they are very much in that honeymoon phase - which is evident in the way that, even as they mingle with different people throughout the party, Hana keeps looking back to wherever Shiro may be and smiling. (Please send help.)

There are other times, possibly only perceptible to those who are particularly observant or those who know her better, that Hana looks a bit - nervous. Which isn't a usual look on the normally endlessly confident young woman. But she might appear to be a little distracted as she's snacking on chips or sipping on a drink.

For the most part, though, she's as sunny and chipper as she usually is, playing games and probably beating people at games, even getting pumped and dancing along to the music, in between talking to Shiro (and giving him, like, lots of hugs). ]

[ Some time after the other guests have cleared up and things have been mostly squared away, Hana will pull Shiro aside to where she'd stashed her stuff when they arrived and smile up at him. ]

So! That was a good party, but are you ready for the best part? My present to you!

[ She pulls out a lovingly wrapped present for him; black wrapping paper with a star pattern, gold-colored ribbons. Inside the box is a moon lamp to go with the constellation blanket she'd gotten him for Christmas. ]

[ Hana had no idea that Shiro's birthday was coming up so fast. Much less that his birthday was on leap day - there were a million jokes about his age already brewing in her head. The short notice, however, gave her little time to prepare much, especially as his new girlfriend, so she was actually quite thankful that Keith was already planning something. Once the party was over, Hana politely stayed behind, one because she still needed to give Shiro his present - and second so she could help with the clean-up.

And by helping with the clean-up, she really meant idly snack on the chips and dip that hadn't yet been eaten while Keith takes on the actual cleaning-related tasks. ]

Hey, [ she said between chewing, ] this all went really well! Thanks for organizing it.

[Shiro had been really surprised and pleased that people had come to his party, even if it technically wasn't that day. Thank goodness for lack of "Shiro is six" jokes.

But Hana had been with him when the party had started and had stayed for the whole thing. It was definitely honeymoon phase of dating since like her, he had kept looking over at her when they were apart. When they were together, he had looped an arm around her waist. A sign of affection. Seriously, when had he ever had this recently.

But at the end of the party, he followed her over to where she had hidden the present, taking it carefully from her]

You didn't have to.

[Then he unwrapped it. The smile on his face was probably worth it all. It was likely she could tell exactly what his thought was]

I love it. Thank you so much.

[Shiro had gone out for a bit earlier in the day. He had pretty much ignored (or forgotten) today was supposed to be his birthday so when he arrived home, he wasn't suspecting a thing.

And of course when he walked in the first thing he saw was Keith pacing]

Hey, Keith. Everything alright?

Yeah, yeah... it's fine.

[He smiled a bit, looking a little nervous.]

I uh... Well, happy birthday.

[See? The main living space was decorated! And no six-year-old jokes! Red nudged Shiro's hand, wearing the party hat again.]

I wanted to do something of a surprise party, but I figured that might be a little too much, so it's sort of a surprise. Everyone's coming by later.

[Shiro looked around at the living space, noticing the decorations and smiled. It meant a lot to him that Keith had done something like this. And he was really happy there were no "Shiro is six" jokes. He was used to those and they got old very quickly]

I really appreciate that. Thank you. Yeah, surprise wouldn't have been good.

[He looked at Red with the party hat]

And thank you too. Not going to wear one, Black?

[Black grumbled at him. No not really]

[Keith shrugged a little.]

It was important to me, too. He deserves it.

[He loaded a few things into the dishwasher.]

He did something for me, and, well, he's like my brother, so... I wanted to do something good for him. We don't get a lot of opportunities like this back home.

[Who was he kidding? They hadn't had any like this. He wasn't even sure of the date.]

[ She quirked a brow at him, folding her arms across her chest after he took the present from her. ]

Of course I had to - you're my boyfriend? Anyway I wanted to, so!

[ - then fell silent as she watched him unwrap it. She'd only had short notice of Shiro's birthday coming up, so she kicked herself into overdrive thinking about what the best birthday present to him would be. When she came across the moon lamp - modeled after Earth's moon, to boot - she realized it was perfect.

The look on his face when he realized what it was told her that he thought it was perfect, too. Definitely worth it all. She couldn't suppress her smile. ]

You're welcome, Takashi. I knew you'd like it!

Well, of course if you wanted to.

[Shiro didn't really want her to feel like she had to do something just because they were dating. Especially when it was only a few days after they had agreed to be a couple. But if she wanted to, that was different]

I do. I really do. It goes perfectly with the constellation blanket.

[Which is on his bed up in his room! Now he has a light to go with it!]

[ Hana gave a few slow blinks at Keith as she continued chewing on chips and dip. After which she tilted her head and asked, ]

Why not? I know you guys were out in space being all heroic and stuff, but...

Right?

[ She chuckled, proud of herself for having chosen such a perfect gift! Hana bit down on her lip a bit, though, as she considered what the natural next step was. ]

Do you... want to go set it up in your room and see how it looks?

[Well yes that was the natural next step, but still surprised Shiro a bit. ~~Whoa... girl asking to see his room~~]

Sure. Let's go.

He lead the way up the stairs to his room at the end of the hall. The master bedroom since at the time, Black had needed the balcony to get to the second floor. Now he didn't, but there was no reason to change rooms.

As Shiro opened the door, Youta's head popped up from where he had been sleeping on Shiro's bed, confined for the duration of the party to keep from causing problems. But now the door was opened and FREEDOM! Youta bounced up and raced out the door, heading for the stairs to go find his lion friends.

Shiro just chuckled]

Well, here we are.

[And said constellation blanket is currently on Shiro's bed right now...]

[ Well, here they were...

Hana spared a moment to look around Shiro's room. She wasn't surprised to find it was sparsely decorated, but with just a few touches here and there that were very much Shiro, including the constellation blanket she'd given him. Which was on his bed.

Yep, his bed that was right over there. That sure was a thing.

She shifted on her feet, weight going from one to the other. ]

I like your room...!

[ Oh god. Get it together, Hana? You've been in dude's rooms before? ]

Where are you gonna put the lamp?

Thanks.

[It's not much different from any other guy's bedroom. At least its organized and everything among the few things that he did have had a place in his room. The blanket of course had a place on his bed.

He was a space nerd, what could be said.

And it was getting even more so now that he had a light shaped like the moon.

He hummed under his breath a moment as he looked around for a place to put the moon light. Finally he decided, moving over to the dresser and setting it down there]

I'm going to put it here.

[So its across from his bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed, looking over at it with first an evaluating look but then a pleased one]

Yep, right there.

[He gestured for her to sit... if she wanted to]

Wallflower

Once Lola set out some snacks she'd made and brought over she... vanished off to the corner to read. Her hair drifted to a much less vibrant navy blue as she tried desperately to understand all the words about business ownership she was reading. You'd think, after a month of this, Lola would give up. But no, no Lola was a stubborn little thing.

And she hadn't planned for more time not doing her studies. So here she is, studying at a party. Lola's gotten a little weird being here so long.

Eventually she's frustrated enough to try and destroy her book, so she'll just move into the kitchen and re-up the snacks with some nachos, popcorn, other things that are party-friendly, but warm and delish. This Lola's gone back to her electric blue locks and a peppier upbeat attitude a lot more friendly than the weird bookworm she was before.

She's humming and dancing around the kitchen as she works, so it should be safe to approach.

[Red bumped her shoulder against Black's with a clang and then wandered off. Keith walked over and handed Shiro a wrapped box.]

Here... happy birthday.

[ Hana had been thinking, too, that his dresser looked like a good spot for it. There really wasn't much else in his room for it to go on, honestly, but - she was pleased that they were on the same wavelength nonetheless. She stayed put, though, even when he went and sat on his bed. ]

Yeah, that looks really good!

[ Then she saw him gesturing for her to sit with him and, uh.

Sitting next to Shiro... on his bed... in his room... on his birthday... in the would-be moonlight...

She couldn't help but blush. But she joined him, moving over and taking a seat next to him. Just close enough that their shoulders were touching at first, but then she leaned over and rested her head on him. ]

... Happy birthday again, Takashi.

Well, even before I went over to the Blade of Marmora full time, we were just really busy. The last few months I was there was just attack after attack as we were being tracked by Zarkon and we had to keep running every time he caught up.

[He frowned a little.]

But, we kind of lost time. Like, between all the planet hopping, and then figuring out how Alteans track time on the Castle compared to what we use on Earth, it's been hard to remember what day it is. We might have had our first birthdays since leaving Earth here or our second... I'm not really sure.

[He could be 19 or 20... Shiro could be 26 or 27... it was hard to tell.]

[Clang. The sound the lions make...

Shiro smiled as Keith walked away only to come back with a box]

Thanks. Should I open it now or wait?

Keith found Lola busy in the kitchen. He'd noted the look of severe concentration on her face when she'd been reading earlier, so he'd smartly stayed away, but now that she seemed to be looking less for isolation, he decided to make sure she was okay.

He watched her for a moment, somewhat amused, and then headed closer.

"Hey..." He reached out and took her hand. "Everything okay?"

Up to you.

[Keith shrugged.]

I was honestly surprised to find it, but I thought it would be cool.

[When Shiro opened it, he would find a diorama of the first moon landing of NASA's Apollo program.]

[It's not like he was going to do anything weird just for her sitting down next to him. Well, nothing she didn't have the option of saying she didn't want to do. He wouldn't say anything if she decided she didn't want to come over and sit next to him so he is happy that she does. He gives her smile, glancing over as she sat down before looking back at the light.

As she leaned her head against his shoulder, he looked over again, smiling as he put his arm around her]

Thanks. I'd say this has been a good birthday. Best one I've had in a while.

[ She sort of snuggled in when she felt his arm go around her, nestling in against his body a bit more and humming appreciatively. ]

That's good. I'm glad. Keith worked really hard.

[ Though she hoped Shiro thought that she helped make it the best birthday he'd hand in a while, too. ]
