Even though he hadn't thought about it as an option, or really needed it to be one, Magnus was endeared by the thought of them out in public and showing off not only each other but their comfort and pride in their sexualities. And he thought, without allowing himself to feel any jealousy, that it would be a positive experience for Alec to be around other queer beings for a day of celebration. "I don't know, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised," he said, reasoning that everything else was celebrated and so why not sexuality?
Sipping the wind they'd been pour, Magnus nearly spat it out when Alec so casually asked about diamond weddings rings. He cleared his throat while carefully setting down his glass, smiling across the table with gentle disbelief. "No, darling, I don't need a diamond to remind me that we're married or that you love me," he replied, looking down at the Lightwood ring on his left hand. "I know what a family ring means to a Shadowhunter, and what it means to give it to a lover." His eyes did flash across the table to where his ring flashed on Alec's finger, big and bulky and bearing a monogram B upon the face. It made him think about how Alec deserved something more special, something that was a symbol of their marriage rather than a stamp of Magnus' name laying claim on him.
He groaned softly against Alec's lips as they kissed, feeling the intention beneath the fairly chaste surface. The night was most definitely going to end with him raising additional wards for privacy and soundproofing around their corner of the loft. "I don't find anything wrong with those," he said, voice slightly thin with the stretch of a lie on account of the final suggestion; he could use his magic to help with the first two. "Are you saying you're going to forego black and dark grey in favor of something hideous?"
