[ It's some relief when she comes to sit near him, reassures him that it wasn't his fault. He's still a little worried and skeptical about the truth of that - until she starts speaking. Cisco listens, quietly, without objection or interruption. And... there's an awful lot for her to tell. Had she been holding all this inside, for so long? The fight with Finn and Poe (he thinks with a pang about how, if he'd known, he could have helped her, comforted her). The awkward period after, feeling torn between her own need to learn more about her powers and her friends's feelings.
When she mentions the canister, Cisco can't help but startle, a little. He knows, right from the second she mentions that word, what it means. Memories, a flash forward in her life, past who knows how long. Years? How much had she gone through? Changed? His hands tighten, twisting together in his lap, but he keeps listening without speaking. His heart sinks with disappointment (but not surprise) when she tells him about the choice Ren had made. ]
Rey...
[ Cisco begins to speak, once she's finally lapsed into silence, but then stalls. He holds up a finger for her to wait, and then, inexplicably, pulls out his phone from his pocket. A few quick taps of his thumb take him to his chat history with Rey. He scrolls, neatly and quickly, to the exchange they'd had about Kylo, finding a particular exchange and centering it on the screen, holding up the phone so that she can see it:
He doesn't say anything, for a moment. Just holds up her own words, a silent reminder of what she'd said. When Cisco speaks, his voice is soft, heartfelt. ]
You're not a fool, okay? What you did - trying to help someone you thought needed help, trying to redeem someone, trying to save somebody's soul... that's what heroes do, Rey. It wasn't foolish, it was... it was good.
[ Cisco reaches over, setting a hand on top of hers, a very light touch, easily shaken off if she doesn't want it. What he wants to say next feels risky, because it's her belief system, not his, and his understanding of it is second-hand and (he knows) a bit muddled. But at the same time, someone ought to say it. ]
You told me the Force is all about balance, right? And you'd thought, before, all the stuff in Ren's life had thrown off the balance so he had no choice but the Dark. What you did was... made it so he could make a choice between Light and Dark equally. Doesn't matter that he picked the wrong fucking side. What matters is you balanced the options. Isn't that right?
