Ah, yes. In my homeland of Tevinter, those born with a magic inclination are cherished, but elsewhere...those identified to have a talent are taken from their mothers' bosoms and cloistered away in Circle towers to "learn to control their gifts". More like "protect the world from them". At least you were allowed to stay at home.

( He was certainly not of the opinion mages should be able to do whatever they wanted, as was the case in Tevinter currently, but prisoners? No. )

Circles in the Imperium, my homeland, are academies of the arcane, rather prestigious ones.
