*Lauren had evaded the party for much the same reason, and a space full of peace, not just quiet, but actual peace was a welcome change from the hopeless dread Lauren usually found in her life. Still, that quiet meant when Lauren made even a bit of noise she was aware, and with eyes on her, Lauren reacted with a step back and an arm up. Her usual defensive stance to use her powers. Which it took a few moments to realize was a stupid response, and when did she get so scared of people?*
