Perimeter Guard Building

[ It isn't Ladybug loitering around the Perimeter Guard building this time, but Marinette. Who definitely isn't part of the Perimeter Guard, so maybe it's weird she's there. She wasn't looking to go inside (at the moment at least), but crouching and inspecting the contents of a bag, occasionally glancing up to look first at the sky, then giving anyone passing by a closer look, before returning her attention to the bag. ]

Hrm. Where is it, where is it...ahah! Good, it's all here! [ She stood up. ]

Now... do I go and ask for an escort or do I go out myself... [ Dilemna dilemna! Help a girl out? ]

The Park
[ One of the nice things about being in a new world - or moon so to speak - was that it had exposure to some really interesting outfits or animals. So she liked to spend her free hours at the park with her drawing pad, which she was currently using to sketch her ideas. She occasionally gave a glance up into one of the trees, pensively, before setting her pad down and getting to her feet, then wandering to said tree and - with a quick glance around - hoists herself up onto a branch, starting to scramble up into the tree. Please don't swipe her pad, she needs that for work. Feel free to ask the crazy girl what the heck she's doing though! ]

[ There might a be certain gravity shifter stood a couple of feet away regarding Marinette with her arms folded, and a surprisingly stern look on her face. Raven had been on her way into the building to do some training when she'd overheard the little dilemma, so obviously it became her new priority. (Nothing personal, Marinette, you just look completely defenceless in your civvies!) ]

What are you doing, anyway?

Huh? [ Oh hey, person. She digs the red highlights, very nice, Raven! Ah... she looks kind of serious... ]

O-oh! Yeah well.. yeah I mean, I just .. didn't want to get in the way. I mean, they're probably already busy from their patrols. [ She was totally not planning on going out on her own, who her? Crazy talk.

It's okay though Raven. Marinette cultivates the 'defenseless squishy normal human' look to an art. Though Keith has been training her somewhat, so she's not a -total- pushover ... just...mostly. At least as her cute squishy, Squishinette Marinette self. ]

Well I was thinking of heading out past the wall to explore a little, get some inspiration. I have kind of an artistic block, you could say.

[ Sarah happens to be walking by when Marinette abandons her sketch pad and goes for the tree. Sarah can't help it--she draws, too, and the thought of someone walking off with the sketch pad is awful. So she goes to casually stand guard over it, peeking at the exposed pages before she calls up into the tree. ]

Are you sure you want to leave this here?

[ Raven sighs. She understands not wanting to be a burden, but that's just stupid. ]

They'd be busier if you got into trouble on your own out there; it's a lot harder to rescue someone if you don't know where they are. [ Her tone's softer, at least? Still lecture-y, but not quite as stern as it could be. Probably something to do with this finely perfected Squishinette defenceless civilian cover Marinette's got going on. ]

[ An artist, huh? Raven would probably say it's a bad idea and send Marinette packing if there wasn't something weirdly nostalgic about drawing that makes her happy and peaceful all at once. Too bad she totally sucks at it. ] ... I'll escort you, if you want.

[ That WOULD be awful - but Marinette was pretty trusting - in some ways, too trusting. So didn't think anyone would steal her sketchpad of designs! But she'd appreciate the girl guarding her pad. Hearing the voice, Marinette glanced over from where she was balanced on a branch, peeking through towards the ground. ]

Oh hey! I figured it'd be fine - I'm not really leaving it - I just wanted to try and get a better look from up here. [ And no one had been around at the time. ]

Eheh, yeah ..well... I'm a good runner? [ Yeah that's... no excuse. She knew that she wasn't really a Squishinette, but no one else did, and part of her sometimes wondered if she really had to keep it that way-- but it was also easier (and harder) this way. She didn't want to take any chances. ]

Really? You wouldn't mind?

Um. A better look at what? [ She moves away from the sketchpad to stand closer to the tree, looking up into its branches. ]

Feathers. [ Marinette paused, and then triumphantly held out a handful of feathers that had been left behind in a bird's nest. ]

I've been watching the birds from this nest for the last little while, and they appear to have abandoned it. [ Possibly because they didn't like being spied on. ] But they left some feathers behind.

[ Also heads up because Marinette's gonna hop down out of said tree and she doesn't want to accidentally knock into you. ]

Sure. It's not like I could stop you from going out anyway, right?

[ Raven's... actually smiling at that. Maybe it's the idea of a plain old human thinking they can outrun any and all trouble they might face outside of the wall? Orrr maybe there's still a reckless youth inside that Big Sis shell somewhere (deep, deep down) that can relate? Either way she shifts to a more casual stance, finished with her lecture. ]

The name's Raven, and you are?

Uh... heh heh.. is it that obvious? [ To her credit at least she looks sheepish about it, but... yeah, she's plenty headstrong. ]

Marinette. [ She offered a hand, smiling. ] Nice to meet you Raven, and thanks~!

[ Sarah moves out of the way, still curious. ]

Why do you want the feathers? Were they special birds or something?

[ There's an amused snort; Marinette's smart enough to look ashamed when Raven rumbles her, so she gets a free pass on the foolhardiness this time! ]

Likewise. [ She takes the offered hand, giving it a shake. ] So, Marinette... where are we headed?

[It was a few days after they first spoke on the network, with 'Ash' letting Marie know ahead of time that he would be meeting her at the park for their little hangout. He blinks and can be seen looking around, smoothing back dyed blonde hair and scratching his chin--before he thinks he sees her going up into a tree from the distance.

He jogs slowly over to said tree and looks up to see that it was indeed the one and the same, looking just as she said she would. Save for the tree.]

I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with: your drawings or your flexibility.

Huh? [ OH! Ash showed up sooner than she thought. ]

Ash, right? Hold on, I'll be right down. [ She nabs something she was looking for, about to jump down - then rethinks it and carefully lowers herself from the branch instead, grinning. ]

Ah, well it's easier going up than coming down. [ At least when she's pretending to be a normal person. ]

But thanks. I spend a lot of time working up the designs and .. unfortunately a lot of the time I end up changing what I started on to improve on it.

Out past the wall, towards the river. That's usually about as far as I'll go when I head that way.

[ ... uuuuuuusually. She has been known to wander further of course. More exotic (and dangerous) beasties tend to lurk out that way though, and she didn't want to put anyone at risk unnecessarily. ]

[ Once Sarah's clear, Marinette hops down, grinning as she shook her head. ]

No, but sometimes I can get lucky and find a feather in good enough condition that I can use for some of my designs - and it just so happens that the feathers I found are perfect to use.

[ She holds her hand out carefully to show the colorful feathers that had been left behind. Two are very vibrant blue feathers, and one is grey with a black trim on the edges. ]

Sounds straightforward enough.

[ Raven's been beyond the wall a few times since her arrival, but this'll be her first time playing escort here. Luckily she's got Xii on her side (or circling above, if you want to get into the semantics) so they should be fine even in the unlikely event that they do run into trouble! ]

Sounds about right for an artist. Is that what you did back home?

Seamstress, actually and.. well that's what I'm working towards, back home. I want to be a clothing designer, but I'm still in school. Here, I've been working part time as a tailor though - saving up money for my own place at some point. But this, [ She gestures at herself. ]

I made this outfit myself. I actually make most of my own clothes and things. Accessories too.

Oh, wow. [ She starts to reach for one, to touch it, and then hesitates. ] Can I?

[ Marinette grinned, nodding as she held the feathers out. ]

Of course~! [ She didn't mind someone touching the feathers. ] They're smoother than they look.

Say, would you maybe be up for making me something? I still have some money left to pay you with.

[ She perks up a bit, nodding automatically as she retrieves her pad and pencil. Clearly ready to take notes on what he wanted. ]

Of course, I have plenty of time. [ Which is rare, she usually takes on multiple projects. ]

What do you have in mind?

[ Raven can't argue with that logic, so nods before setting off on foot (it's only polite)! She's still not entirely used to being in a place with so much solid ground, foliage, water everything so she glances around a bit more than the average person. It's partly due to her wanting to keep Marinette safe, but mostly because it's all still new and awe-inspiring! After a minute or so of walking in silence she turns to regard her escortee. ]

...have you been interested in art for long? [ Small talk isn't exactly her forte, but she tries! ]
