I actually worked at that lab, and at the time we figured it was 'cause of the storm, but it wasn't. My- our boss had tampered with things and made adjustments in secret. He wanted it to explode. The stupid thing is it would've blown anyway, in a few years, and that would've been a freak accident, but he sped things up so he wouldn't have to wait.
