A few days since the memories had stopped and a couple of nights of decent sleep and Shiro was back to his normal self. Now that he was feeling better, he remembered that he had missed something: Keith's birthday. Even Keith had forgotten it with everything that was going on. But Shiro needed to fix that.

As discretely as possible, Shiro had gotten an idea of who Keith's friends here were. Of course he also had some idea based on who had come to see Red when the lion had arrived. Some people had been generally curious while others had clearly heard about the lions from Keith and wanted to meet them in person. So he had used that as an opening to figure out how close Keith was to certain people. Once he had had an idea, he had begun to invite people.

The day of Keith's party, he made an excuse to get Keith out of the house for a while so Ed could come over. He needed help to get the decorations up in a short amount of time, plus surprising Keith wasn't necessarily the best thing to do so letting him know at some point there were people at the house was probably a good thing to do so Shiro would have to meet him or stall for time for everything to get arranged.

Which of course he did eventually have to leave to meet Keith once guests had started to arrive. Soon when he returned, it wasn't quite a surprise party for Keith... just a surprise it was for him.

However, Shiro couldn't leave without putting a party hat on Red. It was a party for her paladin after all so she should be festive.

[ooc: open to CR. Party crashers, be aware there are two robot lions - one the size of a liger - and if the host or guest of honor get annoyed with the party crasher, there will likely be a lion or two ushering them towards the door.

Keith listened to both of them and then nodded. "Okay. As long as things aren't weird or anything?" Because he could understand if they were. He just... didn't want them to be if they didn't have to be.

"Thanks for making breakfast, though. That was nice of you." He smiled a bit. He knew Lola had to get going anyway, which was part of the reason she had been trying to leave early, so he wasn't surprised by her comment, and was actually surprised she was still there.

Lola's look for Shiro was unamused. Like she was sure Shiro had no idea what he was talking about. So much could be said, or not said, by the actions around the words than the words ever could. Still... she'll let that go for now.

"I know I'm the guest, but I thought it'd be good to repay letting me stick around," There was a subtle little smile after she said that. She finished her coffee and grabbed some bread. from the fridge and turned what she had left of her breakfast into a makeshift sandwich, "But I really do need to get going. I'm just glad I don't have to share a shower anymore."

Shoes back on she walked past Keith's chair to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. ...and because she's Lola she has already put all her make-up on so have fun with that. Waves to both boys, then to any lions within sight of the door... and leaves.

Shiro didn't quite understand all of that. Besides, he wasn't the one who had been sleeping over at someone else's house and trying to sneak out in the morning.

After Lola had left, Shiro's attention now turned to Keith. There’s definitely a faint grin on his face.

"So... you and Lola."

Keith nodded and then gave Lola a small smile as she kissed him. He watched her walk out, giving a small wave in response as she closed the door. Red twitched her tail in amusement. When Shiro spoke, Keith's eyes widened a bit, and he turned to face him.

"Huh?" Him and... Oh. "Oh... uh... Yeah, I guess so." He rubbed the back of his neck. "It uh... it was nice." He frowned a little in thought for a moment, staring at his plate. "You didn't get all 'big brother' on her, did you?"

Sorry, Keith, just because she's gone doesn't mean this is over. You get to deal with Shiro being a brat. To be fair, despite Lola acting like Shiro had been waylaying her, he really only had greeted her. She could have said good morning and left.

But Keith's comment did make Shiro chuckled.

"And exactly are you expecting me to have done to go 'big brother' on her?"

"I don't know... weird questions?" Keith gave him a studying look, one eyebrow slowly rising up. "Making her uncomfortable? Testing her mettle? Making sure she's a good fit?"

"Weird questions? Do 'how many guys have you dated?', 'do see this leading to marriage?', 'when will you graduate school?' count? Oh! What about 'how many children do you plan to have?'. And then my favorite, 'pineapple on pizza, yes or no?'."

In case you couldn't guess, Keith, Shiro is having fun with this.

Keith groaned, putting his head in his hands.

"Please don't ask her those things," he mumbled. "I don't need your help to scare her off."

Yes, Keith was kind of afraid of screwing this up.

Shiro laughed at that. No, he had not asked her any of those questions and he wouldn't. Well, maybe one could be asked (the question regarding school), but not out of nowhere and not when they were still a new couple.

"Not even the question about pineapple on pizza?"

Another groan...

"Uuuuugh... Shiroooo..."

It had been a long time since Keith had something like this to whine at Shiro about, but he did now... and he was.

There was definitely grin on Shiro's face. Sorry, Keith, you're making this more amusing so he's going to keep going.

"What? That's the least objectionable question of the set."

"Why are you like this?"

Keith sighed.

"Are you going to tell me what really happened or are you just going to torture me all day for having had someone stay over?"

Okay, enough teasing about what he had said to Lola... for the moment.

"I was making coffee. She came down stairs and I said good morning. She offered to make breakfast and we started talking, somehow starting with the difficulties of actually dating being a Paladin of Voltron on the Castle of Lions. I did say that hoped you two weren't doing something without thinking, but that's all I said."

No jokes. Nothing overly obnoxious.

"So... nothing weird... you promise?"

Keith looked worried.

"I asked no weird questions when speaking to Lola. Promise."

But that didn't mean he wasn't going to ask weird questions to you~.

Keith sighed a little and then nodded.

"Okay..." He poked at his plate a little "Just... don't, okay?"

"I promise. I will not ask any weird questions of Lola."

Keith better catch the part that Shiro had specifically said Lola because if he didn't...

Though to be honest, whether Keith caught it or not, Shiro will probably still ask Keith questions, more serious in nature but probably not any less awkward.

"Thanks..."

And no... Keith didn't catch the implication of Shiro specifically naming Lola in that statement.

"So... I hope you two are using protection."

And here we go. Good luck with this, Keith.

Keith almost choked on his food.

"SHIRO!" He stared at him in shock. "It didn't even go that far last night! It was the first time we've spent the night together!"

"Well, that doesn't necessarily mean anything when it comes to being with someone. Anyone can on their first time. But I'm glad you didn't. I'm too young to be an uncle, you know."

Not that Keith was too young to be a father. Not that it wasn't something they should risk. Yes... it was because Shiro was too young to be "an uncle". Yes, he was jerking Keith's leg, but it was also a reason Keith wouldn't soon forget if he wanted to avoid Shiro's jokes.

"Oh my god, Shiro... nothing's going to happen like that," Keith said with a groan. "We'll be careful. I promise, okay?"

Shiro just grinned at Keith's reaction. Sorry, he is being serious, but he's also teasing at the same time. He's serious that he wants to make sure that's something Keith considers, but the way he's doing it...

"Okay, good. Glad to hear that."

Just remember, Keith, turn about is fair play. ~~You'll get your chance.~~

Keith sighed, giving Shiro a sidelong glare before attempting to go back to his breakfast.

"Is that everything?" he asked sourly.

Shiro knew when he'd pushed a joke too far and the fact that Keith was giving him a look that he normally reserved for people he was starting to consider decking if they continued to push his buttons told him that was enough... for now.

"That's it." Shiro picked up his coffee and took another sip like nothing had happened.
