heavyhead: (we just don't know)
noctis did nothing wrong ([personal profile] heavyhead) wrote in [community profile] riverviewlogs2017-06-10 07:42 pm

(open) why is he like this: the log

who: Noctis and u, new and old CR welcome!!
what: some prompts feat. Noct and also Noct, but 8 years old
when: June
where: around
warnings: doubtful

A. not a literal child
[Not by age, anyway. When Noctis isn't on his shift at the petting zoo, he can be found out and around Riverview, usually with his nose in what appears to be a strategy guide for a Riverview-equivalent of the wildly popular!! (not really) board game Kingmaker. Nerds and children might be familiar with this game, but besides them: there's Noctis.

Every so often during his intense study, he checks something on his phone, scoffs in disappointment, and looks at the book again. Occasionally he makes a note with a pencil. This is the most studying he's ever done in his life, for the record.

Eventually he'll stick a finger in the book to hold his page and flag down a passerby, complete stranger or not.]

Hey, can I ask you something? I need a second opinion for, uh, work stuff.

[it's fucking board games, he's full of it]
B. actually a literal child; after June 14
[Once 8-year-old Noctis has slipped cleverly away from the clutches of his various babysitters, he quickly realizes something very important: it's hard to make a daring escape in a wheelchair. Thankfully (uh, maybe) he doesn't need it for more than a slowly healing injury, so he makes the wisest choice an 8-year-old child could make:

He just abandons it, because an empty wheelchair just sitting in a public space isn't a concern, or anything. The boy himself doesn't make it far—in fact, he's quite literally up a tree nearby. Not very high - he is tiny - but he sure did get up there.]

Whoa—this is higher than I thought. [genius]
C. still a literal child; still after June 14
[Other fun things kids do: make a lot of noise and a lot of mess. Noctis isn't as rowdy as plenty of 8-year-olds, certainaly, but he's bored and when you're a child stranded in a weird place with no friends to keep you busy, you make a lot of noise and mess.

He appears to be playing with fireworks because he is literally playing with fireworks; little round ones that seem to go off not because he's also playing with matches, but just because they... go off after he tosses them high enough in the air. After a few he gets bored of just tossing them and takes to batting them higher and further with a giant, squeaky rubber mallet.

Surely this is not annoying.]
D. choose your own age-defying adventure
[hit me up via pm or @ [plurk.com profile] melodrama if you'd like a starter! Nocts of all ages available!!]

[ It's like deja vu — as his mother calls it. A sense that the universe is trying to tell you something. Jon peers at him thoughtfully and then shrugs. If Noctis falls, Jon can easily catch him. His powers are good enough for that. ]

Whatcha doing up there?

[ Jon judges a little. But mostly because he's an experienced tree-climber. ]

A keeper? What's that?
supersweet: (They will stumble)

[personal profile] supersweet 2017-06-13 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you need a new one.

[ Though. Did Riverview give Noctis a case worker already? That's fast. ]

A tree's not a good hiding place if your wheelchair is nearby though.

You could come down and find a different spot?

Orrr we could do something instead. Like a game!

[ Jon pushes his glass up as he runs through his options. He likes to play, but he rarely has people to play with so it takes him a few seconds to come up with ideas. ]

We could play hide and seek! Or go to the arcade. They have tons of games there.

Uh, sure.

[ Jon eyes the wheelchair before shrugging. ]

What about your keeper-person?
supersweet: (They will race behind you)

[ This is how adults feel. Jon just knows it, but he doesn't dwell on it. ]

Well, I don't think it's too far anyway.

[ Jon starts with a slow pace — especially slow for him. He doesn't know if he should offer help with the chair or whether that would be insulting. At least he can make sure Noctis keeps up. ]

Has this place been okay for you so far?
supersweet: (The trust part comes later)

[personal profile] supersweet 2017-06-16 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah . . . [ Jon trails off. He's in the lucky camp of having a dad at all. But he misses his actual father deeply. And it still hurt that his cousin and mother left earlier. ]

Maybe your dad will show up later?

[personal profile] supersweet 2017-06-17 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
My parents make me do that too.

[ It's standard. ]

Still, at least he'll be spending time with you. And that's not bad, right?
supersweet: (They will race behind you)

[personal profile] supersweet 2017-06-20 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. I still hafta go to school and all. Don't you need to do that too?
supersweet: (Only lack the light to show the way)

[personal profile] supersweet 2017-06-21 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Jon shrugs. Since this is a weird magic thing, Jon is pretty sure Noctis wouldn't need to go to school anyway. ]

Well, it depends on how long you're here for. I've been here for three months so they make me go.
