( closed ) lost research
who: Jim Kirk, Leonard McCoy, Peggy Carter, Re-L Mayer, Shai Ebbisaryn, Sans, Dick Grayson, Scott Lang, Yuuri Katsuki, Victor Nikiforov
what: a rescue mission
when: from May 15th through to the end of the month
where: abandoned area, along the river, the delta and the waterfalls; between the first and second walls
warnings: monster attacks, probably some injuries/blood, don't expect anything more than that; add any needed warnings on your own threads as needed, please!
Despite the risks, most of the journey was a fairly quiet one. A lot of hours walking, making their way along the riverside, trekking through the woods and across small clearings. When the sun set they'd set up camp somewhere, and as soon as it rose they got back to their feet and out towards the Delta underneath the waterfalls.
Jim made sure they had all they needed; maps, compasses, whatever devices that could help them navigate the terrain. As far as supplies went, they had plenty of covers and extra clothes to make sure they didn't suffer through the colder nights, but there were no luxuries out here. If it rained, they'd be mostly unprotected, and they could only shower and wash their clothes so long as they had the time and access to the stream of the river. There was plenty of food, hopefully enough to last them the round trip, but they also had a myriad of tools and weaponry needed for any hunting and scavenging so they didn't always have to consume from the food they'd brought along for the trip.
The creatures living out here were another concern, and on a journey this long, they were bound to run into something sooner or later. They should be packing enough weaponry to keep the team safe and everyone in one piece, though.
Hopefully, it would be worth it. Jim didn't even care if they didn't get their hands on any of that research— all he cared about was that there were people possibly lost and in danger out there, and he wanted to try and save them.
[ ooc: this is a mingle log, so everyone feel free to write up your own top levels and/or tag around as much as you like! ]

Jim! I heard fighting from this direction. [He clutches at his first aid kid, eyes darting around the area nervously as if looking for more of the monsters, before he finally spots the blood.] Oh--you're hurt!
no subject
Yeah, I'm— I'm fine. Just hit me in the head. [ There is some amount of blood trailing down the side of his face, but at least it's not gushing out uncontrollably from the wound on the side of his head. It's not even enough for Jim to feel woozy or sick. Yet. ]
I just need to clean it up, is all. You got some water in there?
no subject
Yes. And disinfectant, too. [Yuuri gives Jim a careful once-over.] Were you injured anywhere else?
no subject
No— [ He shifts and winces uncomfortably. ] Might have a bruise on my side. Nothing serious. Can you just... clean this up for me? [ You know, before Bones sees it and never lets him hear the end of it. ]
no subject
He's still going to know if I cover it with a bandage. [Yuuri says, just a hint of amusement in his tone, before he straightens up more seriously.] I can clean it up. Let's just... [He glances around until he spots a largeish boulder that will work just fine.] Have you sit right here.
no subject
Just don't want him to worry too much, and he would if he saw the blood. [ He knows he can't possibly hide the bruising and the wound, though. But he can at least clean them up. Nodding, he follows promptly after Yuuri, taking a seat on the boulder he gestures towards. ]
no subject
[Voice quiet, Yuuri replies almost absently, most of his concentration going into taking out the supplies he needs from his first aid kit. Gently, he dabs at the injury, wiping away the blood before cleaning it with the disinfectant.]
He seems to think you attract trouble wherever you go.
no subject
[ Thankfully so, too, because God knows Jim doesn't care nearly as much about his own safety. These days, it's not because he's reckless so much as he believes that other people's safety is that much more important than his own.
Closing his eyes, he bites his lips inwards, letting out a muffled sound at the press of the gauze with disinfectant against the wound. He breaks into a grin at the next words, though, chuckling softly. ]
Yeah, well... he's not totally wrong. But he does tend to exaggerate sometimes.
looks like a good place for bones to hop in!
A few more swipes of the disinfectant, and then a dab of ointment later, Yuuri finally gets around to carefully banding the injury up.] There, all done. How does that feel?
[Whether Jim needs adjustments to his bandage or not, Yuuri's pleased; he'd remembered all of the proper instructions and he hadn't even choked while patching Jim up either. It's definitely a step in the right direction.]
/whistles BONES GET IN HERE
[ But there's a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips, showing how he's amused at that teasing remark above all else. Besides, he likes people being that comfortable around him. And while he hasn't spent enough time with Yuuri so far to call him a close friend, he can easily see that changing.
He straightens up a little once Yuuri finishes patching him up, one hand lifting up to feel along the edges of the gauze and tape. ] Alright. Doesn't hurt much, either.
DOCTOR! HE IS NOT A DOG, JIM!
In fact, he's just about to check on Yuuri once again when he finds the younger man is not along. Hazel eyes drift to Jim and instantly he's frowning at the gauze wrapped about his head. Crossing the distance between them, he can't stop himself from cupping Jim's head and gently turning it to get a look. After a while, he's pulling out the tricorder to check for a head injury only sparing a frown at Jim before sending Yuuri a softer expression.] Did a good job dressing the wound, Yuuri... did you test for a concussion?
[He asks, cause all medics should check when a head injury is involved, but he can already tell Jim has a minor concussion and the way his hand shakes slightly on the tricorder wand gives away how upset he is at that thought of Jim getting injured again. So much so, he's put off yelling at Jim just yet.]
no subject
Oh. [Yuuri winces, realizing he'd left something out after all.] No... I just cleaned and dressed it.
[He shifts closer once he realizes the doctor's already fixing his mistake, ready to watch and observe so that he can remember this all later.]
no subject
It's alright, Bones. I've got no symptoms.
[ He does catch the way Bones's hand is shaking a little, and he lifts his own up to curl around his arm, nearer to his elbow, thumb moving in a soothing circle. ]
no subject
[Keeping his voice even and careful, he's made certain not to look Jim in the eye as he checks him over. Even though he'll have to when he does check his eyes. Putting the tools away, he pulls out a pin light and curls one hand around the back of Jim's neck before flashing the light in each of his eyes. He breathes a little as the reaction is right before putting it away. He's tempted to do the pressure test, but he doesn't want to look that much like a damn mother hen when Jim is pulling the same shit he always does when he gets hurt.]
You have a head injury. [The words come out dryly as he stares at Jim not moving away. Brow furrowing, he tries to ignore just how much that damn hand on his arm helps and it pisses him off a little. Still he forces a calm breath, and straightens a bit.] Some people hit their heads and the damage is more internal than external. If there is something damaged in the brain, it could cause anything from as simple as memory loss to death and they look just fine before hand. It's an easy problem to miss.
He's got a small concussion, but most of his reflexes are fine. They're supposed to rest but I know damn well he won't listen to me. [Even if he is refusing to talk to him right that instant, his fingers are still playing with the hair at the back of his head almost nervously from the worry.]
