( closed ) lost research
who: Jim Kirk, Leonard McCoy, Peggy Carter, Re-L Mayer, Shai Ebbisaryn, Sans, Dick Grayson, Scott Lang, Yuuri Katsuki, Victor Nikiforov
what: a rescue mission
when: from May 15th through to the end of the month
where: abandoned area, along the river, the delta and the waterfalls; between the first and second walls
warnings: monster attacks, probably some injuries/blood, don't expect anything more than that; add any needed warnings on your own threads as needed, please!
Despite the risks, most of the journey was a fairly quiet one. A lot of hours walking, making their way along the riverside, trekking through the woods and across small clearings. When the sun set they'd set up camp somewhere, and as soon as it rose they got back to their feet and out towards the Delta underneath the waterfalls.
Jim made sure they had all they needed; maps, compasses, whatever devices that could help them navigate the terrain. As far as supplies went, they had plenty of covers and extra clothes to make sure they didn't suffer through the colder nights, but there were no luxuries out here. If it rained, they'd be mostly unprotected, and they could only shower and wash their clothes so long as they had the time and access to the stream of the river. There was plenty of food, hopefully enough to last them the round trip, but they also had a myriad of tools and weaponry needed for any hunting and scavenging so they didn't always have to consume from the food they'd brought along for the trip.
The creatures living out here were another concern, and on a journey this long, they were bound to run into something sooner or later. They should be packing enough weaponry to keep the team safe and everyone in one piece, though.
Hopefully, it would be worth it. Jim didn't even care if they didn't get their hands on any of that research— all he cared about was that there were people possibly lost and in danger out there, and he wanted to try and save them.
[ ooc: this is a mingle log, so everyone feel free to write up your own top levels and/or tag around as much as you like! ]

This is the perfect time for a Heroic One Liner.
Really. It's perfect. Just a great opportunity for a real, snazzy hero style zinger.
Nope. He's got nothin'.]
...well, shit.
no subject
Jim could use that one liner right now, though. Seriously Scott what are you good for. ]
Oh, good. Was wondering when we were gonna have some fun.
[ He's kidding, this is not fun. It's the opposite of fun. And he doesn't have a plan yet, so first thing he does is take off running, trying to round the animal so he can guide it farther away from the rest of the group. ]
no subject
Just once, you know, while I'm here, I'd like to meet someone whose idea of fun sounded, you know...fun.
[This? Not fun. But hey, he can do his thing, right? So he'll shrink and launch himself at it, fist aiming toward the thing's--uh, that IS a chin, right?]
Just don't shoot me in the ass or anything.
no subject
Are you kidding me?!
[ Like, for a second there, Jim actually thinks the guy just bailed on him. (Thanks a lot for all that jerk, etc.) But then he hears his voice and just— what the hell, is he invisible? Tiny? What is happening here. ]
If I could see where your ass is—
[ So Scott will just have to forgive him later if he ends up stunning him while he's shooting at the animal, trying to slow it down without actually killing it. ]
no subject
Hey, I know a dude with a bow and arrow who could probably part my hair from this distance. [Okay. 'know' is a bit loose. Arrow Guy. You know.
But that's pretty close--whatever the guy shoots whizzes past him and he has to do a pretty twisty little action to get out of the way. ]
So, what's the goal here? [Because he's totally trying to kill the thing, because, ugh, have you given it a close look?!? Trust Scott, from as close as he gets, 'gross' is an understatement.]
no subject
Yeah, well— good for you. [ Really, Jim has some pretty good aim but you do not want him to try and do that. Neither with an arrow nor a phaser. ]
I'm trying to stun its ass! [ Doesn't make it easier that the animal has some thicker areas of skin, though. ] Can you keep it distracted? Wanna try something.
no subject
[Scott's a realist, ok?]
Why the hell you trying to stun it? We gonna hold it for ransom? Ask it a few questions when it comes around? [Seriously. What's with you? Monsters: they should die. Right?
Or is he screwing up this Good Guy stuff again?]
no subject
[ He's kind of improvising here. A lot. More of the usual, really. Then again, he's been in worse situations and made it out. It's just starting to annoy him that he's stunned bigger creatures than this with fewer blasts. ]
no subject
[Seriously. They're not exactly cuddly critters. And this is the judgment of a guy who lets his daughter keep a giant ant as a pet!]
['scuse him while he grumbles.] Distract it, he says. Distract it!
[Let's see how it likes Tiny!Scott zipping around in front of its face.]
no subject
And well, as long as he is actually doing the distracting, Jim won't say anything else about it. He focuses on rounding the creature instead, spotting a softer spot between its hind legs, aiming a shot at it.
The animal lets out a cry as one of its legs buckles. ] Got it! It's working!
[ While he keeps running, he increases the intensity of the blast just a bit more— getting distracted enough that he doesn't realize the creature is swinging around and ready to slam its weight right into him. ]
